Synthesizer Sound

When I listen to sheet music on the MuseScore app, the sound is not realistic. It comes from some kind of synthesizer that sounds fake.

I love MuseScore, just keep getting better!!

This software allows me to see, hear and play what others see, hear, interpret and write in their own way, which is often brilliant. Thank you, authors!
I hope the software features and capabilities are enhanced as things progress - please!

Way too many subscriptions

Good music but I cannot properly navigate anything without getting pummeled by offers.

Absolute scam- do NOT download app!!!!

It automatically charges your card hundreds of dollars (I’ve been charged $369!!!) and there’s no available contact to get your money back.

Fique longe .

Response from developer

Hello. We want to make it clear that MuseScore continues to provide a substantial selection of material at no cost. Many scores, chord charts, lyrics, and community tools remain fully accessible without any subscription. If you need more information, feel free to reach us at community@mu.se

SCAM

This app is a scam. They will let you download a piece then automatically sign you up for a $45 subscription without telling you. Then it is impossible to cancel it without contacting their customer service.

Amazing App! One Question

I love musescore. I use it so much all the time, and i love how most of it’s free to use. Musescore studio is an amazing program because it’s free, produces amazing sounds, and has a wide range of instruments that none of are taken from you from a subscription. You have access to everything. Since musescore studio is so great, you should try to create an equivalent mobile app! It would be accessible to way more people, and would allow you to write scores anywhere. Thank you Musescore!

Rip-Off

I paid for a subscription before they changed the subscription structure and now common songs aren’t available on my “level”. This is absolutely a bait and switch.

Deceptive subscription trap! Canceling on iPhone is not enough

※日本語は下

*Note: It appears that if you register your credit card directly on the MuseScore website via a browser, canceling the subscription through your iPhone settings will NOT stop the charges on MuseScore’s end. This seems to be a deliberate "dark pattern" designed to confuse users and keep charging them—essentially a deceptive system.

First, to start with the positive: as someone who recently started music as a hobby, I was amazed by how convenient this app is. I am truly grateful to the creators who upload scores for my favorite songs.
However, the app’s billing system is extremely confusing. Looking at other reviews, it’s clear that many other users have also been charged unexpectedly.
In my case, I bought a few scores at first and loved them, so I signed up for a 1-week free trial. I even set a reminder on my calendar to ensure I canceled on time, and canceled through Apple.
Yet when I recently checked my credit card statement, I discovered two charges: 4,794 JPY on July 14th and 3,599 JPY on April 14th. It seems I was placed on an auto-renewing subscription without realizing it.
I hadn't used the app at all after the first week, so I contacted support to request a refund.
As an exception, they refunded only the 4,794 JPY charge, for which I am grateful. However, they provided no answer or consideration regarding the April charge, despite the fact that I didn't use the service during that period either.
It feels disappointing to be let down by an app related to music I’ve grown to love. I’m sharing my experience so that others don’t fall into the same trap. I will never use this app again.

New Update

I love the new update and how it scrolls with the music! Only recommendation I can think of would be to have an option in settings to switch back to the old version

Edit: after playing around with the new layout, please please PLEASE change it so that when you pause the music, the restart button doesn’t switch spots with the play button. I find myself more than half of the time accidentally pressing it and restarting where I was at.

New update unusable

New updated killed this app. Not using it anymore- you hit play and it just flops back and forth. Can’t read the music. Totally useless

Awful customer service

They are terrible at responding, I am trying to cancel my subscription and get a refund, it has been 3 days and they’ve done nothing about it. It’s impossible to navigate and sort without help, it’s almost as if they’ve done this on purpose.
Edit: still waiting for my refund it’s been 9 days, I get one email and then I respond and they ignore it. I can only assume they wait for you to forget. Customer service is non existent apart from a token email thanking you for your email each time.

LET US SCROLL DOWN ON IPAD

Charged after canceling subscription and horrible customer service

My experience with MuseScore’s subscription system has been extremely frustrating.

I canceled my existing subscription, yet I was later charged an additional $69.99. After weeks of back-and-forth with customer support, I was finally told that I had somehow enrolled in a second annual subscription while purchasing a single score through an Apple private relay email address that I didn’t recognize.

The problem is that I never knowingly signed up for a second subscription, never received any confirmation email, and nothing in either my Apple account or my MuseScore account shows that this second subscription exists. There is still no indication that I have multiple subscriptions, nor is there any apparent way to view, manage, or cancel this alleged second subscription.

Customer support initially responded with generic replies that didn’t address my issue, and once I explained the problem in detail, they eventually stopped responding altogether.

Whether intentional or not, this subscription flow is highly misleading. It appears possible to enroll in a redundant annual subscription while an existing subscription is still active, without any clear warning or confirmation, and then have no practical way to discover or manage that subscription afterward.

I cannot recommend a service whose subscription and customer support experience has been this opaque and difficult to resolve.

Do not use this app Confusing subscription model multiple yearly charges can’t unsubscribe

Do not use this app. I cannot recommend this app - you pay a yearly fee then when you want to print a piece that’s not included unless you upload to premium - you pay another small fee which is fine but- somehow it starts a new yearly subscription?!?! I’ve paid 3 or four random 59$ fees this year- this app is confusing and I’m now reluctant to use it for fear I get charged yet again
There are other music apps that are more user friendly
And don’t gouge
If musecsore fixes this problem it would be a wonderful resource, but at this time I do not reccomend

I like it

It’s good, it has good music and it has music for literally every instrument you can think of. I just don’t like how you need to subscribe to do all the official songs and to write your own music. overall it’s a good app though and i recommend it to you 🤩 thanks for your time bye!

Extremely obnoxious persistent ads for subscription

I understand that every company has to make money, but when you are asked to subscribe with every button click on an app that doesn’t even work very well, as well as every time you leave the music player playing in the background and come back, your users will not be compelled to buy your subscription.

Expensive pretty useless

It is easy to end up paying for a very expensive premium subscription that gives you just a small discount on buying scores - don’t waste your money

Too

The desktop app is great for writing music. Nothing else about this app/company is any good. I'm tired of asking for subscriptions every time I open the app. There are too many subscription levels that are very close in what you're getting. The search function for the various accounts for your level is a joke. They take a really long time for support.
