My favourite news app
So many great updates recently, i really like how it looks on iPad. I can see lots of potential, every area needs MyLocal!
Poor quality
App requests your address and access to loads of stuff on your phone. Completely unnecessary. I don’t live in Lincolnshire, but want to use the app - it’s not been thought through at all. Back to the website it is…
Just adverts and data harvesting
As soon as you install this it wants access to half the stuff on your phone, wants you to set up an account and then it’s just mostly ads. Just go to the website instead - it’s less awful. Invasive
Not fit for purpose.
This app replaced the Lincolnite, which had its faults but ok at times. This replacement app doesn’t work so I can’t comment on its content. Will be deleting this rubbish and I hope the developers can spend more time and design an app that works.

What have you done to this app now?
I’ve just updated it and now I have an alert message keep popping up every two seconds.(Failed to get push token for push notifications.) I’m going to delete the app now forever it’s a mess.

Deleted
This change has lead to the app collecting more data. I used to get what I wanted in the Lincolnite’s previous format. You cannot even set a filter to only see Lincolnite coverage, instead you have loads of sources that are only reporting general issues, not Lincolnshire specific ones. To top it off the ads now look exactly like news articles. I have deleted the app. Will just use browser instead.

Regularly crashes
This app crashes on me daily. I forever have to close it down and reopen it. It’s been happening for months if not years and nothing seems to be done about it. Otherwise, it would be a decent app if the crashes ever get fixed.
Glitchy app
News format is good, bite sized chunks but the app performance is incredibly poor. Needs deleting and reinstalling on a regular basis to ‘clear’ old news items that appear at the top of the feed as ‘4hrs old’ for example…..old news, not new news! I find this incredibly frustrating and often just use the web page via my browser rather than this pointless app!

Very buggy!
Used to like looking at this app but it’s very buggy! Ever since the man vs car cyclist story it hasn’t updated anything new! Even before that though it was buggy, errors when get notifications etc! Please release an update which works to avoid a deletion!
Lincolnite
Had so many problems, don’t like new layout at all. Tried loading it today and nothing so deleted and then reinstalled but just stuck on red cover page, tried a couple of times and still the same. Go back to the old one, much nicer and easier.
Nearly daily local news.
More adverts than news but as it’s free and updated most days you can’t complain. One problem is that the app often reverts to a 2014 story about a teachers strike so need to delete and reload the app regularly as that seems to be the only way of shifting it.
A backward step
I used to read the Lincolnite every day, continually checking for new stories. The new format is not user friendly and makes browsing stories a chore. But the biggest problem with the latest upgrade is how buggy it is! I now spend more time looking at a blank screen waiting for it to load and, on many occasions, it doesn’t load at all. This used to be an app that was easy to use and had now performance issues; not any more! Please revert to the old app until this version can be debugged.

Poor layout
Larger icons now make this app difficult to read and don’t seem to add any value. Preferred the previous version regularly fails to load. The old app was mutch better. Used to enjoy this app now don’t bother to open it mutch as it adds very little value
Terrible design and poor quality news
I used to love The Lincolnite and think their news was interesting and helpful, but recently their news has just been full of depressing poorly written rubbish. Over the Christmas period there was plenty of good news to be talked about, yet The Lincolnite failed to mention any of it. Add to that this shocking redesign of their app, and you’ve got a truly bad news outlet I’m afraid.
Please bring back the old Lincolnite with their good quality news articles, mixture of interesting bad AND good news stories, and a mobile app that is easy to navigate and flick through articles.

Poor
Since update in December the app has been very poor. Takes such a long time to load articles especially after notifications received. Bring back the old version!

Fails to display
I have yet to manage to read an article without it going blank and failing to refresh. This is certainly a backward upgrade
Local man
Born and lived locally for over 50years & the Lincolnite during Covid restrictions has kept me and family members upto date with local news & restrictions which not only affect me but people who are close to my family & friends.
Previous layout
I preferred the small icons in the previous version as I used to scroll through the news items relatively easy. Now the news items are represented with a large thumb nail picture. It’s too big, please make the same as the old one. Other than that I don’t have a problem with it.
