Useless due to crashes
App constantly crashing when trying to view search results. Useful only if you want to see the map, but still crashes randomly when doing that.

Go to see Rothko exhibit. Type Rothko in app search bar to see where to go. “No results”
Simple would’ve been better
Looks like a lot of effort to make it cool and interactive but I don’t need a mandatory carousel of functionality every time I open it, or fancy interactive maps I can’t move around. App crashes immediately after I tap my search result.
Worst museum app I’ve ever used
The app constantly crashes, especially when you click on a painting or if you leave the app to take a picture. As if it wasn’t annoying enough, every time you reopen the app you have to follow a tutorial before you get to the map. I’ve tried to follow the masterpiece path and by now I think I watched the tutorial over 20 times because the app keeps crashing. So disappointing.

Promising but issues
The app is promising - offers some good content, has an interactive map, etc. BUT if you exit the app (for instance, to check a text message or take a photo), the app totally restarts. You have to go through the intro again, you lose your place if you were listening to audio, etc.
Now Hopelessly Broken on iPhone & iPad
Update: I updated the app from 3.55 to 3.61 on my iPad and (accidentally) my iPhone, both running their 16.6 OSes. And while I can get past the startup screens to the maps on both, there's little point in doing so. Select "East Building: Ground Level" from the menu or by clicking its map. You get "West Building: Ground Floor". And that's not the only floor that doesn't produce what it should.
On a 9.7" iPad Pro, when you start the app, the three intro-screen selection dots overlap the "Skp" (first two screens) and "Start Exploring" (third screen) buttons. The upshot is that there is no active area for the "Start Exploring" button, and you cannot use the app on smaller-screen iPads (generalizing). Another reviewer notes the same prolen on his unspecified iPad. It appears that the Gallery developers should beta-test on a wider variety of devices before shipping.

Really wanted it to work
I tried over and over again to get the app to work, but every time I tried to open up one of the highlighted works for each floor, it would crash. It also doesn’t have audio guides for some of the paintings, and the descriptions are also limited to certain paintings. It also isn’t updated very often since they had descriptions for paintings that weren’t in the rooms anymore..

NGA App Review
This app did not find my location accurately. The navigation is confusing—when I wanted to swipe through works in a gallery, it opened info about specific works. Also, it doesn’t include audio. To access audio you have to scan a QR code (didn’t work several times) or go to the museum website. Not a good experience.

Well executed but lacking
The map is great, but there are only a handful of audio files for the paintings. A missed an opportunity. How great it would be to be able to hear about each painting, like a personal tour.
Terrible app
I wonder how much money they paid for the app, but bassinet you can’t use it at all. I believe that intensions were good, but developers did such a poor job.
Could be improved but massively better than other museum apps
Like possibility to listen or read as part of tour of selected artworks - it helped to provide the context and insight to better appreciate the work - but why not include all works? Also liked that other artists who are in the collection and were somehow linked to a piece were called out - but then it was hard to find them without guidance. Having used this app on several visits I kind of expected the same standard for other art museums. What a mistake- this is the bar! Well done NGA but keep improving it!

Great for finding my way around
The interactive map shows me where I am in the buildings. It also includes some audio tours and info around the works on view.
