Still buggy AND I’m not paying for news!!!
I’ve used this app for years. It’s always been a little buggy, but manageable and I liked easy access to nightly and breaking news. Recently, it started randomly prompting me for a passcode for parental controls and sometimes I can’t get past it to watch or read anything. As far as articles, most are now subscriber-only. Sorry; I’m not paying for my news. Why so greedy, NBC?! I hope that change bites NBC in the butt; they deserve it.

Nearly Everything Is Locked
I’ve never felt compelled to leave an app review before, but this change deserves one.
I’ve been an NBC News viewer for over 20 years, and I’ve relied on this app to stay informed. Unfortunately, over the past six months, the app has shifted so heavily toward a subscription model that it feels like more than 95% of the stories on the home page are now locked behind a paywall.
I understand that news organizations need to generate revenue, but when almost everything on the front page requires a subscription, the app no longer provides much value to longtime users. Instead of encouraging me to subscribe, it’s encouraged me to look elsewhere for my news.
After more than two decades with NBC News, you’ve completely lost me. I can’t recommend this app to others when there are plenty of news sources that still provide meaningful access without putting nearly every headline behind a paywall.

This app has changed for the worse
I have used this app ever since I got my first iPhone back in 2009. I have depended on this app to keep me up to date not only with what is going on in our country, but also with what is going on in the rest of the world. As of late, almost all the stories on NBC News are “for subscribers only”. As someone on a fixed income, I cannot afford to be a subscriber. It is really sad. Also, I do manage to pay for a subscription to Peacock and sort of feel robbed that my Peacock subscription doesn’t cover the news app. :(

Subscription Only
Have had NBC news for years as a main news app and now cannot read 90+% of the articles without a subscription. Incredibly disappointing and will be moving on.

Disgusting that they charge now for subscriptions. Why are these Americans so money hungry to charge to read the news? Glad I am British…keep your fake news right where it is.

Greed destroys another app
This app wasn’t that important to me and I only used it occasionally for world news but the majority of the articles are now locked behind a subscription fee. I’ll just get my news elsewhere. Your app isn’t the only source of news. I suggest everyone else do the same and quit giving these greedy corporations your many.

You need to subscription to read anything.
I had the NBC News app for quite some time and enjoyed it. Now it’s turned into a subscription based app if you want to read anything meaningful. With the cost of everything so high, paying for yet another subscription is not in my budget. I deleted the app yesterday because I couldn’t read anything in it. Switch to ABC NEWS app while it’s still here. It’s free.

No longer free 😏
The app used to have tons of great article for free. Now most of them are reserved to subscribers.
Website unusable after paid subscription
I deleted the app after many years of using it. I can understand having a subscription for premium content, but the app has literally become unusable due to all of the subscription-only articles that are being displayed now. Why are you asking me to pay for content that was literally free a month ago?! I’m not paying for basic news stories NBC.

This used to be my go to for news. Now I can get a couple stories and everything else shows as “subscription needed”. It was an easy choice to look elsewhere for news now.

I moved to NBC because CNN new had blocked all news articles to subscription based. I looks like NBC is doing the same now.

This was my go to news app for years. Now every day news and even “breaking news” is paywalled. No thanks. I deleted the app. Way too many to get the news for free.
Only accessible for subscribers
Don’t waste your time checking NBC for news anymore. Almost every article and story is hidden behind a *For Subscribers* paywall. It went from being just a couple here and there, to literally almost every news story. Free articles about sports and beauty are insulting…we’re not coming to NBC for those tips.

Little but a Paywall
I used to depend on this NBC app, but now there is little available content that is not hidden behind the Subscriber bar. I pay for cable TV and streaming access to see NBC TV news. Now they have created. paywall to squeeze every penny from those who prefer them as a news source. I don’t begrudge them earning a reasonable profit, but I have to endure their ads and other screens. I don’t begrudge having a Subscribers screen for more detailed coverage. But they’ve become a useless site if one can’t or doesn’t want to pay the exorbitant Subscriber charge. Adios.

No more free news
I’ve used this app for years to get up-to-date national/world news. Up until recently, a majority of the content was free.
I was just using the app and probably 80-90% of the stories were accessible to subscribers only.
