Less features then before
The most recent update has removed the inbox and documents section. Those sections are extremely important especially now when people are applying to have their loans forgiven. The app the way it is now is just a payment app with no other features. You can't even see past statements. The app is a failure for borrows.

Cannot login from phone
This app is horrible. It will not allow me to login from my iPhone. It tells me my password is not recognized. I change my password, and I get the same message. Then on the 3rd time I change my password my account then locks. I have been battling this for about a year. It is super frustrating because I don’t have a desktop to logon with. I have even called can the person on the phone cannot figure out the issue either and just says well you need to find a desktop to sign in. What is the point of having an app if I cannot access it??!!

Nelnet doesn’t have mobile app!
Why Nelnet call it mobile app if it just link to open web browser!? Such an old system with no updates for being user friendly, feels like the “app” was created in 90th and no one ever bother to make some major changes. I don’t even talk about remember login or use Face ID))) looks like the company doing everything to give user hard time singing in and pay off the debt!!)

Disappointing Update
I went into nelnet to make a payment on the loan with the highest interest rate, only to discover nelnet has taken this feature off the app. Fees like a way for them to sneakily continue taking advantage of higher interest rates once they unpause. Please bring back the ability to select which loan to pay.

New App HORRIBLE
Prior to the app change, everything was laid out efficiently, accounts were easy to look, you could submit paperwork, etc. The new app is very un-user friendly. Makes it confusing on your breakdown on accounts owned and you aren’t able to submit paperwork regarding your loans, whether reapplying for loan repayments or any loan forgiveness. What a joke!

Nelnet
Been a Nelnet customer for 11 years or so. Believe it or not, the app is better than its ever been. For the majority of the time I’ve paid my loans through Nelnet, the app couldn’t even load half the time. It’s not Nelnet’s problem if their customers can’t pay specific loan groups or if their customers can’t pay their loan hassle free through their app. Nelnet will get paid eventually regardless. Think about how much you owe Nelnet and then consider how many borrowers they have. They have the resources to make a great app but how would that benefit them? You used to be able to pay your loan groups in the app and now you can’t. Weird how that is a feature that no longer exists. I’m surprised there isn’t a service charge for paying your loan through the app. Nelnet is a scummy company, but the only reason they are that way is because they are allowed to be. If your loan was recently switched to Nelnet, good luck. I have always watched them very closely. I don’t trust Nelnet’s autopay because I feel like a payment amount will change on one of my loans and Nelnet will notify me with the bare minimum effort possible and my credit will take a hit because of it. Do not trust Nelnet.

Now the website does not work..
First the app doesn’t allow group pay, then when you go on the browser, it only allows you one payment at a time.. I usually submit a payment for the next 5-6 weeks but if you try to submit more than one, it’ll act like it’s processing but you’ll notice, it overrode your other date.
Everything about my loans switching to this company has been absolutely annoying. Just honestly speaking-truly annoying. Even the generic responses, it feels like it falls on deaf ears, that they do not care.

Missing ability to pay by loan group
Really need to bring back the ability to do payments on loan groups. It would be even better if we could pay by loan within the group. It isn’t just to target the highest interest groups, but also some of us find it very motivating to make extra payments when we can afford to nuke a particular group. I have a regular payment for the whole account, but when I can - like due to diligent saving or a bonus - it means a lot to me to be able to target the highest interest group. Please bring this back as soon as possible. It would be even cooler if we could target a loan in a group and just pay them off. It does wonders psychologically to see the massive list of loans shrink a little.

Greed mongers
This company called and HARRASSED me wanting payment the entire time that covid relief put a pause on student loan payments. If they think that was an effective way to win me over and take them seriously they are out of their minds .. I miss Great Lakes!!!! You people are not going to get a dime from anyone with less then 10 thousand debt until the Supreme Court rules on forgiveness. Get over it!

Can’t login
Not a great way for you to get my money if I can’t easily log in to the app. It sure doesn’t waste my time when I have to watch the loading spinner thing go round and round. The old app was way better. Please fix it or change it back. There’s an old saying. “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. Well it wasn’t broke but you “fixed” it.

The developers and designers removed a very useful function from the app that used to be in previous versions and have made it more difficult for you to make payments.

Broken payment function

Missing key features
I couldn’t log into the new app. Had to call in and change my password. The service rep was pleasant and very helpful. As another reviewer stated, the ability to choose between which loan your payment gets applied to is no longer available. Disappointing, as it was nice during covid forbearance to be able to pay down the highest rate loans and even before covid to make extra principal payments on the loan with the highest interest. Can no longer view tax documents. When viewing payments, it no longer shows which loan(s) the payment was applied to. The payment feature seems easy to use if all you want is to make a payment on the whole group and not an individual loan. I doubt I’ll use the app much as it no longer meets my needs.

App Actually A Link
I can’t stand apps that don’t operate as apps but rather as portals to the website of the developer. That’s all this is, a link that opens to the website. Can’t save your faceid, can’t save your pw if your internet is in darkmode, not really useful in any way that is different from just opening a browser and logging in.

The old version was way more flexible with payments and account management. The new version doesn’t even allow me to log in so now I have to call over the phone every time to make a payment

Lack of basic features
There should be an ability to choose which loan to payoff, not just a general payoff amount for the lump sum. This allows people to do payoffs methods like the “snowball”. Also, it’s annoying to have to input my login info every time I open the app. Use the face-unlock feature or at least remember my login info!

Needs a total app redesign
Quite possibly the worst app on the App Store. I was forced to use Nelnet after being transferred from Great Lakes.
This app has no Face ID, no detailed view on loans and a very clunky interface. Needs a COMPLETE redesign. Jesus Christ how can you even release something like this thinking it’s good?

Can’t access account
First off all the positive reviews are so fake it’s ridiculous. They leave five star with a short half sentence that means nothing.
During and after college I used Great Lakes loan service for my student loan and had absolutely zero issues. Their app worked really well and they had all my information available easily. Unfortunately they switched to this garbage and I can’t even access my account. The reviews on this app also give me chills, I really hope there isn’t any major issues. It’s just really frustrating, the app isn’t working.
