Enrollment is a joke
The step where it is suppose to take a picture of your face keeps failing. It shouldn’t be this difficult. I’ve used biometric confirmation in other apps without an issue. This is an identity app and the dev team have one job…….i’ve deleted the app!
Just Use the Apple ID feature
Why aren’t you just using Apple’s built-in ID feature??? It’s so much easier. This app is pointless. Apple already built the interface. This app is clunky and unnecessary

At first I was doing something wrong and could enroll. It works just fine, and will definitely use it when digital ID can be used

Stuck on the license upload. Program just hangs
Unable to scan ID
I get to the part where I’m supposed to scan my ID and it only says Front of ID. I tried moving to different surfaces with different lighting, etc. but with no luck at all. So it’s not usable by me at all. I have an iPhones 17e.
To many steps to use regularly

Also the app takes to many taps right now. Open, authenticate, show QR code, scan, confirm, wait. It’s easier to use a physical ID.

Takes long to log in
I was trying to like this app, but it keeps logging me out and takes too long to download the information. 😒

Worked Great for Me! Super Convenient!
Not sure if they’ve made recent updates to the app but this was my first time trying it. I completed the entire process in less than 5 minutes. Set up a pin and enabled Face ID. Was verified immediately after process was completed. Camera is a bit sensitive when facial scanning but nothing to get annoyed with. Keep still and look at the camera and keep face in the oval. Note, after researching this, Apple Wallet is not enabled because the STATE laws do not allow for it and why this app was made instead. Some states that do allow this for example are Ohio, Maryland or Utah. NY, NJ and CT do not allow for this convenience and you must go through their proprietary apps and verification methods.
Some things to know about my personal situation:
- I have a real ID drivers license
- Used iPhone 17 Pro
- On WiFi at home
- Not charging
- All permissions allowed when signing up for the app.
I suggest others from the past to try again. I too a risk downloading it only because I’ve lost my ID so many times and this really is so helpful as a backup. Glad I did and was super surprised how the experience I had was very smooth and problem free.

Keeps Deleting
If you don’t use regularly, all your information disappears. That makes NO SENSE! Adding again takes a ridiculous amount of time. “Timed out” multiple times trying to capture new face photo. App really needs work, as this is a great idea
App doesn’t work
The app doesn’t work, plain and simple. Get to the point of scanning your ID and nothing happens, as usual, poorly done NY

Kinda boring, haven’t needed a reason to use it. Wondering if people will know if it real.
Decent app so far
I have read many of the 1 star reviews of this app, but it has not given me any problems during the enrollment process. I took clear photos of the front and back of my license with no issues. The Face ID part was annoying, but I successfully got through it. The “digital ID” isn’t like the one on Apple Wallet though. I feel like NYS should transition to Apple Wallet; it would be more secure and safer for consumers like myself.

Taxpayer funded garbage that fails the one job it has
Useless and unacceptable. The entire point of a state ID app is to have valid identification on me at all times to stay in compliance, and it does not work. It fails to load, fails to verify, and leaves me with nothing when I need to show ID. We are taxed to fund this and what got released is broken at the most basic level. At this point it seems intentional. There is no excuse for a government app this far behind. If it can’t reliably display a valid ID, it should not be on the App Store. Pull it until it actually works.
