The Best App Ever

The Newport Folk App has got to be the greatest app ever designed. The guy who designed the app has to be a genius. Year after year it works perfectly. Whatever they are paying him is not nearly enough.

Great app,
The artist info is so helpful.

Map need better icons so it is possible to match to the legends. Better use of colors and simple geometric shape. With three finger tap, it is obvious that detail is not there.

After the update, the app is completely useless. It crashes every time I try to open it and I can’t get past the instructions phase to actually access any information.

Latest update ruined functionality

Worked last week, this morning any of the lineup option won’t work. Map won’t update. Really disappointed.

Since the Bose update, app crashes on launch. Reinstall the app and it’ll work everyone

App crashing

I updated my app earlier this week to update to the 2019 schedule. Today I got a push notification to update one more time to fix bugs. Now the app keeps crashing and I can’t open it to access set lists or band information. The folk festival is tomorrow and I can’t use the app. How disappointing. 🙁

Schedule

Last year i was able to turn my iPhone horizontal and see the schedule according to times. It doesn’t work this year????

Hey, there! The Gantt chart view is still in the app and seems to be working for most folks. Sometimes it can take a second to switch the portrait view to the landscape. You could also try a force quit / relaunch to see if that kicks it in. If you can't get it to work, shoot us a note at newportfolkapps@gmail.com with some screenshots and your phone and OS version and we'll see if we can help figure it out.

No artists or times loading on new app

Had a great experience with the app in 2018, so I can’t give a lower rating. However, I’ve downloaded and re-downloaded the 2019 app several times but none of the artist names or times are loading. Happy to change my stars if there’s a fix for me.

Sorry to hear this! The initial data sync can take a minute (possibly longer if on a poor connection,) but if a force quit / restart doesn't get it to work, shoot us a note at newportfolkapps@gmail.com with some screenshots and your phone and OS version and we'll see if we can help figure it out.

Time is broken and Alerts are incredibly delayed

Time within the app is broken, it often thinks an act starts in the future that has already finished. Alerts about artist arrive hours after act has finished.

Maybe this was caused by bad connection to the cellphone network? With the number of the people at the festival I would expect the app to work better offline.

I would be better off with a pdf of the schedule saved to my phone, but that isn’t an option.

Hello! Sorry you had a bad experience with the app last year. We definitely had some struggles on Friday, but cleared things up by Saturday. Hope you’ll grab the new release (out now,) if you’re attending this year’s fest!

2018 artist bios won’t load

This app has always been stellar. Super useful and user-friendly, absolutely needed to help make the Fest that much more fun.

This year the bios for all the bands aren’t loading when using the app. This isn’t a deal killer just a big annoyance for an otherwise great app. Is this big being worked on?

Edit: real time usage on Friday, the scrolling feature as bands’ set times would tick off doesn’t work anymore. Additionally, everything is off by an hour at least. Just got a notification that Moses Sumney was playing the Harbor Stage at about 4:25. His set ended a while ago and Rachel and Vilray was already more than halfway through their own set.

Christmas in July

Newport folk app may be the best thing on the summer. Works as your personal concierge for the greatest music festival. Turn it Up.

Schedules are incorrect in landscape

The harbor stage and quad stage schedules are swapped in landscape view. Otherwise, good stuff!

Great, professional app

I saw so many people using this app over the weekend. I really like the countdown until an artist was scheduled to begin their set...very useful. It loaded quickly and had beautiful graphics. The notifications and news sections seemed somewhat redundant but all in all a very good app that went above and beyond my expectations.
