Consistently useless when travelling

I work internationally and have tried on several occasions to use this app, none of them successfully.
The frustrating thing is that at home it works fine and I always check it to ensure it is working before leaving home. For example, the last three times now (twice in Dubai and once in Malaysia)I have tried to use it, the app just displays ‘Your Covid status will be displayed here once at least one of the following has occurred - you have at least one vaccination’ making it look like you’re not vaccinated at all.
Incredibly frustrating when there’s a huge queue behind you then you’re there faffing about trying to log into the website to generate a pdf certificate to show them instead.
I usually try to fly as paperless as I can but now I’m printing out the pdf from the website at home before leaving due to the app never working.

Needs fixing

The app is no longer working properly despite being needed for international travel. Currently in the US and have been relying on this app to prove vaccination status to enter venues. It was working fine, but now no longer shows vaccination status and will not refresh.

Thankfully the website still works and has enough information to be accepted in most places. A word of warning for anyone relying on the pdf/ paper copy... This will cause you hassle. After your booster, it will only show the last two doses and is therefore an incomplete record of vaccination.

The app is adequate when working, but the layout is poor. It’s impossible to get all the required information on one page for screenshots or print outs.

Not working

I’ve logged out and back in again, re-downloaded the app twice and refreshed a billion times. Every time I’m still greeted by “your covid status will be displayed here once you meet the requirements”. Yet if I switch to the EU passport side of the app, it can verify every single vaccination and booster I’ve had and when I have had it. That side works fine with the QR codes and everything so the app is clearly broken somehow and it’s very frustrating as I am now unable to be verified for domestic events. It’s extremely annoying as if you are going to make this app the standard and compulsory at most venues, PLEASE check it for bugs and make sure that it works first??

A bit fiddly but worked first time

Managed to sign up, take a photo of my ID and my face first time with an iPhone 8 Plus. The app is a bit clunky and slow but it verified all my details correctly on the first attempt. It shows my two vaccinations and my booster jag details in the international travel section. Don’t plan on travelling internationally anytime soon but it seems like more and more businesses and places of work will require proof of vaccination, so I’m pleased to have the app and that it’s working correctly. The app could be better/less clunky and it would be good if NHS Scotland and NHS England would adopt the use of one app in the future for use in both Scotland and England.

Useless

The step that asks you to verify your identity is broken. I tried several times on several different devices. Impossible to register and use.

Junk

Government stick to your usual old fashioned corruption and stay away from technology. What an utter waste of time. Probably the worst attempt at an app I have ever seen.

Unreliable and Inconsistent

The two of us have the app. Used it to travel in October and it worked well. We both used it again in December on the way out of Scotland and again worked well. Then two days after arriving in our destination it stopped working on my phone. I tried everything that I can think of to get my details back- system update. Deleted and re installed app etc. the strange thing is that I can log into the web and my partner app to see the details, but no longer on my phone. No tech support or phone number to use from abroad. To be safe get backup paper copies - which defeats the purpose of the app. So for me the app is unreliable and inconsistent.

Needed updating while abroad !!!

So annoyed that this app is sold as being the way to freedom . It just serves to force you into yet another injection. “ covid status” gives only TWO WEEKS credit for previous infection after self isolating ! TWO WEEKS!! Most countries give 3 months credit but this isn’t supported by the app … the date of infection is not recorded . The two week credit end is the only date it gives.
It’s jab or nothing . Disgusting that the update even suggests this is fixed when it is not …
Also , you better have a good mobile data allowance as this app will not work unless you update it it. I suggest you print off your vaccine certificates before you travel .

Government is useless

If you want to understand why people have no faith in government, you need only look at this app like a microcosm.

They can’t find your records, and even when they do, they somehow lost your records and need to relocate them…

Oh and that will take 7-10 working days…

No, rattling off the date, the time, and even the name of the person who gave you your jab won’t help us…

Yes, every-time you call to check you do have to go through a 10 minute interrogation about your basic details…

I do not dislike government because it is intrusive.

I dislike it because it is terrible at what it does, and any attempt to change the system for the better inevitably fails because aging and increasingly irrelevant bureaucrats have no desire to lose their cushy desk jobs.

Worked instantly

Despite my home address being different to that registered with my GP (long story!), this worked first time. Really quick and painless. I used a driver license rather than a passport, and yes- some will have teething problems, it’s the nature of the beast.
Sometimes some apps just don’t work well together- close all apps, reinstall this one and try again.
Sounds like fixes have been made- I defaulted to GB and everything just ‘worked’.
Great job, good UX, saved me a whole pile of hassle.

It doesn’t work

No matter how many times you put in you details, they can’t find your account. Hard to believe they spend 300,000 quid making this app

If you’re going to have a stupid idea at least implement it effectively

:/

DiucaParada

I wouldn’t even rate it at at 1⭐️and agree totally with kitcat72. When I get to the verification screen on my iPhone11 to take photo of my ID I get a red cine camera with a line through it. Can’t get rid of the line until finally it does display a pull down menu, which opens as if it might be the privacy settings which I set to camera access nothing happens and we are back to cine camera (which should be a camera not cine) with a line through it. This is supposed to be helping us get through C19 and even software companies cannot get it right. CARRY OUT YOUR BETA TESTS ON YOURSELVES DO NOT RELEASE SH1TE programmes on the ordinary public. You have been paid buckets of tax payers money by NHS Scotland and a simple upgrade would hack it. Look at the level of dissatisfaction on the feedback bar. Buck up and stop charging the public for you incompetence!!!

Good idea, poor execution

I tried 10 times to verify my identity before success. I then entered my details name, D.O.B, postcode etc before the app told me that it now couldn’t verify my identity. Another 5 or 6 attempts and I have given up.

My partner also had problems. However she did after 6 or 7 attempts manage to get the app to display her vaccination status. However as soon as the app was closed and re-opened the app appeared to have reset and my partner had to register again. After another 20 mins verifying her identity the app once again displayed her vaccination status. This time she kept the app open but after using another app and going back to this, the app had again reset.

Okay once you get past the jargon

I cursed the app as I could not get it to access the camera to do the identity check. I found a reference on the internet to switching on the camera via the browser but I did not immediately understand what was meant: I thought a browser was something like Google. One I realised that Safari was what was meant on the iPhone, I went to settings, Safari, camera and changed the access from deny to ask. Everything was very straight forward after that.

Appealing. Negligent. Amateur.

Astonished it Doesn’t Work. Simple as that.
Using iPhone, app goes to an external ID verification provider, stops working there … nothing .. claims that it’s trying to open the camera .. it doesn’t .. no pop up occurs .. it then just times out…there’s no way to allow permission as it doesn’t actually request it nor can it be allowed generally for the app, as the app doesn’t request it for itself on initial install…. Given the importance of this app, given the large amount of public money spent in it, given it very late to arrive compared to other Countries, including in England, it’s entirely pathetic of the Scottish Government to release such an amateur app. Really Appalling Negligence.

Useless

I, like many others cannot get past the “sign up” due to the external verification process being apparently broken. At the start, why default to the USA as the issuing region for a Scottish app? Seems a bit senseless, but ok. I am able to successfully take a photo of my ID, but things go down hill from there. Despite allowing access to take an image, nothing shows in the place your face in the oval. It keeps telling me I am either too close or not close enough despite not being able to actually see my face. It flip flops between the two, despite resting my elbows and carefully and slowly moving my phone closer or further away. I tried putting the phone Ona solid surface, nope. I checked website settings and allowed camera access and turned off blocking. You can’t copy the link and try it in an external browser, it doesn’t work. I’ve tried restarting the app and updating it to the most recent version, makes no difference to the external verification. I get an error message stating it cannot see my face. No wonder cos I can’t see my face either! The company that is being used for the external verification cannot be contacted and I can’t understand why they would be paid to give such a poor service. Supposedly it’s the cutting edge of verification methods. That must be when it actually works. Jumio looks like a shoddy outfit to me.

Worked fine for me

I installed the app myself and my wife installed on her phone and it worked fine in both cases. My registration went through first time but my wife had to try twice before it did the identity verification correctly which doesn’t seem unreasonable when trying to match a small image from a few years ago to a current photo.

After the initial debacle it looks like things are working better and the teething problems (and server capacity issues) have been sorted. Here’s hoping at least!!

Utter disappointment

I initially supported the vaccine certification scheme until using the app. I have only had a GP in Scotland but it took over 4 hours to convince the application that I indeed have medical records in Scotland. Entered my CHI Number (having checked numerous times it was correct) and every other combination possible of my personal data has not to be told I do not exist to NHS Scotland. Have recently helped my friend set up their NHS England app and absolutely no issue whatsoever and baffled by the difficulty of the Scottish system and lack cohesion. This is not the first time I had issue with NHS Scotland records. Moved my GP from NHS Ayrshire and Arran to NHS Lothian with NHS Lothian having difficulty viewing and accessing my previous records, despite being in the same country. Scotland needs to desperately sort this out, an absolute embarrassment to the nation and is of utter detriment to quality of care beyond vaccination scheme. I like many others support every effort to keep people safe but a system as flawed as this unnecessarily restricts and harms peoples freedoms regardless of vaccination status.

Taken time to find details

Found the sign up process fairly simple, I knew my CHI number however when I entered this it couldn’t find me. I left it out and it found me fine, taken a couple of minutes for the vaccine status to show, but now it’s there it does exactly what it says on the tin.

I think it’s worthwhile thinking about why ID has to be checked and I understand this, however I can see peoples frustration at the process. That bit was easy for me but has obviously been an issue for others.

Can’t wait to try it out.
