I’m having a problem when I go out of a camera I’ve clicked onto this is making my phone not be able to do anything and its not happened until this update please fix I’ve been using this app for many years now and have never had any other problems from so still 4 stars
A lot of technical problems
I have 6 cameras that have been installed for about 10 years. The first DVR we had used the Night Owl HD app, which worked perfectly. The hard drive died on that DVR so we replaced the DVR with an updated one we purchased from Best buy. The setup was easy to do. My problem is with the new Night Owl Protect app. It sucks! First, we use an iPad to display the live view. It sits on the counter so that we can see all of the cameras 24/7. The problem is that the iPad is turned on its side in landscape view. When you have live views displaying all 6 cameras the app does not turn to landscape view so you have to tilt your head sideways to see 😠. The Night Owl HD app displayed the live view of all 6 cameras in landscape view. That seems like a simple request! Please fix that! Second, the live view freezes constantly! We have to refresh it every hour. That’s unacceptable! The Night Owl HD app did not do that. It just worked. We did not have all of the problems that we’re having with the Night Owl Protect app.

It’s Meh
Been using this system for couple years now. Always worked Ok. But like many other reviews, whenever they update, seems to be more issues than before. My app sends notifications but can’t see a live view. And wont load any image. They’ll say it’s the phones internet connection or an issue with update and to verify most update version. Have done everything, still not working. I have my DVR connected to a monitor so I can watch it at home like that but app is mediocre. Will be changing cameras if it continues like this.

NO LOGIN POSSIBLE!
STAY AWAY FROM NIGHT OWL PROTECT!!!It always goes offline when I need it the most! 🤦🏻♂️and NOW On 07/17/2026 I can't log in to check my DVR. STAY AWAY FROM NIGHT OWL PROTECT!!
How is this rated so high?
I do not understand how this is rated so high unless it is manipulated. Even with today’s tech and ability this has soo many false alerts it is ridiculous. It makes you want to shut it off which of course is counterintuitive.
Simply the best
I started out recording my property after an incident that happened in 1999. We didn’t have anything called NVR or DVR. We had a VCR. I bought a 12 hour VCR tape to record while at work with a color camera I bought at Radio Shack. Those were the days!!! That VCR set up NOT SO MUCH !!! I love that I don’t need a subscription and the video quality is great day and night’s. I get alert accurate alerts when an auto arrives and a human walking in. I couldn’t ask for more. I even bought the metal yard sign and stickers to let everyone know that they need to smile pretty for the camera. Thank You Night Owl.

Timing
Sometimes it does not connect even when I have all bars of internet. Can’t see anything. I think it has a delay but it’s a good camera system just need up dates

Can’t connect to cameras
It’s becoming increasingly hard to connect to my device since your last update. I can’t see the images anymore. Please fix the connectivity issues.

The focus on the clarity on the cameras are outstanding. The zoom is superb. It makes it really great to sometime communicate with My Wife without using the phone I see her and I hear her in real time. It’s a zoom item all-in-one.

Horrible connecting!!!
I’ve had this product for years, but within the last year connecting to the app has become an absolute nightmare. I have to close the app and open the app 5 to 6 times before it will finally load. It’s not the internet service. This happens no matter the location or the WiFi. Cameras work great, but the app is a 100% dumpster fire!!!

Great but way over sensitive
I’ve had the cameras set up for 3 months now. Love having the dvr record all the time but the detection system they use to notify me sucks. I have the cameras set up on activity zones turned to the lowest possible sensitivity but getting over 100 notifications a day still. Anything I mean anything sets the cameras off a slight breeze yup a fly going by yup. I use them for my business and wanted to make sure no one causes problems but with this many notifications it’s drowning me. Also every notification always says human detected

AI needs work…
While this system is good, the AI needs work. No, the shadow a tree makes on my deck is *not* a face. I don’t need 47 notifications at 2:30-3:25 pm every (sunny) day about it. They could use some kind of feedback button to help the AI learn what is and isn’t actually a face, otherwise there is no “intelligence” in their AI algorithm.

Refuses to connect
I Purchased a Night Owl system from Walmart and have not been able to reliably use it since setup. From day one, I’ve had issues logging into the DVR using a monitor, repeatedly receiving “incorrect credentials” even when using the correct information. At the same time, I was initially able to access the system through the mobile app, but that access has now also become inconsistent and eventually stopped working entirely.
Customer support has not been helpful in resolving the issue, often attributing the problem to firmware or server-side issues with no clear fix or timeline. As a result, the system has become unusable for its intended purpose of reliable remote monitoring.
For a $335 security system, I expected a stable and functional product, not ongoing access failures and vague explanations. At this point, I’m left without the basic functionality I purchased the system for
