Night owls outside cameras
Everything is good except my phone app quit playing previous recordings. I can see previous recordings only on my hard drive. Pictures are beautiful, sound is great.

Worked well for a few months then nothing. Been waiting for an update for a while and still can't see what my camera does in real time, just a grayed out picture of when I opened the app. Was about to buy another buy another camera but now im hesitant and might switch brands

My family and I are very pleased with the capturing of clear content transmitted from our Nlght Owl surveillance camera! Access is consistent reliable! We feel safe and confident with this camera!

This app never work. Never loads, never plays the videos!
Worst app ever
This is by far the worst app and security system I have ever used! Very rarely am I able to pull up the camera footage at my home and 3 businesses. More times than not it states connecting issues that are not related to my internet connection! If you are in the market for security systems, my advice to you is to steer clear of Night Owl! Complete waste of money!

I like the system overall, I think the user interface could be a little better in terms of pulling up single cameras vs being able to pull up all the cameras at once. To go from a single camera view to a multi camera view it’s a little glitchy and could be a smoother transition or an easier way to swap back and forth. Other than that it’s great.

A far cry from Night Owl HD
I recently had to replace my defective 1 year-old night owl HD system with the new one. The system itself works great, but the app needs a significant amount of work. First off it does not rotate when the phone or iPad rotates to landscape, no matter what screen you’re on. Also, with the old app, I was able to swipe to the left or right, and move to the next camera, that does not work with the new app. I have eight cameras around my house so being able to just swipe between them to view the entire perimeter of my home is something that I would really like to have again. And my biggest complaint is that it is very, very difficult to find the time event I want to see. Example: I notice in the morning that something has occurred over night. To find the event I have to look through dozens and dozens of the very short videos captured. This recently occurred and it took me over 30 minutes to find what I was looking for.

Night Owl Protect security system is a must have! I am an extremely happy customer! After doing some research; I decided to buy this security system and I have absolutely no regrets whatsoever. There is no monthly subscription. The batteries are rechargeable. The 2k picture is absolutely stunning! Easy to set up and install anywhere!

I’m having a problem when I go out of a camera I’ve clicked onto this is making my phone not be able to do anything and its not happened until this update please fix I’ve been using this app for many years now and have never had any other problems from so still 4 stars
A lot of technical problems
I have 6 cameras that have been installed for about 10 years. The first DVR we had used the Night Owl HD app, which worked perfectly. The hard drive died on that DVR so we replaced the DVR with an updated one we purchased from Best buy. The setup was easy to do. My problem is with the new Night Owl Protect app. It sucks! First, we use an iPad to display the live view. It sits on the counter so that we can see all of the cameras 24/7. The problem is that the iPad is turned on its side in landscape view. When you have live views displaying all 6 cameras the app does not turn to landscape view so you have to tilt your head sideways to see 😠. The Night Owl HD app displayed the live view of all 6 cameras in landscape view. That seems like a simple request! Please fix that! Second, the live view freezes constantly! We have to refresh it every hour. That’s unacceptable! The Night Owl HD app did not do that. It just worked. We did not have all of the problems that we’re having with the Night Owl Protect app.

It’s Meh
Been using this system for couple years now. Always worked Ok. But like many other reviews, whenever they update, seems to be more issues than before. My app sends notifications but can’t see a live view. And wont load any image. They’ll say it’s the phones internet connection or an issue with update and to verify most update version. Have done everything, still not working. I have my DVR connected to a monitor so I can watch it at home like that but app is mediocre. Will be changing cameras if it continues like this.

NO LOGIN POSSIBLE!
STAY AWAY FROM NIGHT OWL PROTECT!!!It always goes offline when I need it the most! 🤦🏻♂️and NOW On 07/17/2026 I can't log in to check my DVR. STAY AWAY FROM NIGHT OWL PROTECT!!
