Npathize: Daily Empathy Story

It's easy to judge someone before knowing the whole story. Npathize brings you a short illustrated story each day, with an alarm at a time you choose. Someone cuts in front of you. A colleague goes quiet on a message. A stranger takes too long at the counter. You decide who they are in about a second, and you are usually a little bit wrong. Nobody ever tells you, so nothing corrects it. This is one minute a day to be wrong on purpose. HOW A PAUSE WORKS At the time you set, the alarm goes off. You open it and meet someone in an ordinary moment. A man squinting at a bus timetable too far away to read. A woman who does not move when the light turns green. You form an opinion, the way anyone would. Then the second half of the scene shows the part you could not see. That is the whole thing. Sixty seconds, one scene, one detail you did not have. WHY AN ALARM AND NOT A NOTIFICATION A notification is easy to swipe away without reading. Npathize uses the iPhone alarm system, so the alert arrives at the hour you picked and comes through silent mode and Focus. It is a real alarm and you choose its sound: piano, strings, or lo-fi. What is gentle about it is the tone, not the volume. You choose the time. Morning, lunch, the middle of the afternoon. Weekends can have their own time. If the moment turns out to be bad, a backup alert comes back later the same day, once. WHAT IS INSIDE A first journey of 30 stories, at your own pace. Nothing is ever skipped. Miss a day and the same story is waiting when you come back. Thirty seconds or one minute. You pick the length, and there is no skip button inside. An optional heads-up five minutes before, silent by design, so the alarm never catches you mid-sentence. Ambience while you read: rain, sea, or wind in the leaves. The mute button is always there.
