Liquid Glass changes mean quite a bit of the top of the screen gets blurred when reading an article. Even when the buttons are hidden. Please hide the blur when the buttons get hidden otherwise there’s no point hiding the buttons!

Annoyingly Stimulating
As a Brit watching America’s mental breakdown unfold in realtime, in what seems to be an inevitable tumble towards fascism and violent civil war, if not world war, it is useful to have the crystal ball of news and opinion that is the NYT as a touchstone.

I can no longer find the articles I want under the “You” tab. Wish there was a way to favorite any column, not just select ones. Diagnosis is my favorite and I have to hunt for it all the time. Wish all my comments were findable in my account.
Real Journalism. Truth, not "Pravda."
Since I was a little boy growing up on Long Island, watching my father get up at 4:30 in the morning to make the train to Manhattan with his New York Times tucked under his arm with his hand firmly gripping his briefcase on the way to the train station, I knew I wanted to be like him. A successful admiralty lawyer making his way in the mid 80s he always relied on The New York Times to give him the unvarnished truth about what was really happening nationally and globally with opinions firmly and sconces in a section of the paper clearly marked "op ed" to avoid any confusion for readers as to when the news stopped and the opinions began. Today they have skillfully crafted a phone application that makes reading today's New York Times enjoyable and easy for a Gen X'er that still prefers the smell of freshly dried ink on hot pressed pages just peeled off a pile on the corner newspaper stand in Manhattan. The New York Times app makes it easier than ever to find the stories you want and even easy access to podcasts and audio versions of the articles when you're too tired to focus on their proprietary font that oozes with nostalgia and reminds us that truth and journalism still have a home at the NY Times, whether it be on paper or now on my iPhone and laptop while I wait to be called in for my colonoscopy. If you were born after the year 2000 and think there's no truth in journalism anymore, give The New York Times app a try and while you're at it pick up an actual paper the next time you pass a stack of these journalistic gems at your local news stand. Thank you for keeping the torch of truth in journalism burning, have faith in this next generation. They have more potential than they get credit for.

Buggy, not loading, no offline mode
The app won’t work and games won’t load if you’re offline - why do I need to be online for the games? The games also don’t load anymore - the pages are blank. Terrible functionality for what I pay for a subscription!

Recent changes to the You section totally kill this as a news source for me. I’m here to peruse the ends. Pull out some section. Ignore others. Forcing me to use the terrible home page with ever changing click bait titles instead of the curated You tab is garbage.

Doesn’t resume playing
Audio doesn’t resume the episode, every time I open the app I have to waste several minutes digging to find the episode I was listening to just two hours earlier

Loved this app until now
The removal of personalized content and sections I like under the “You” section was the dumbest update. I don’t want to be forced to dig through hundreds of articles to find the new ones I’m actually interested in. Shame on NYT for stooping to this level of behavior just to get more views on their sections and irrelevant articles to be able to sell more ads. What’s the point of a subscription anymore?

When I immigrated from Switzerland decades ago, the NYT was world class. Unfortunately, the internet has changed many things, especially retail, even high end retail…

Device Logins
Paper of record etc. I have no other subscriptions that make me log back in after I read something on my iPad or PC. Here I do. That annoying bit of friction has had me on the cusp of cancelling ever since I started getting daily emails for family accounts. Enough already! Let me stay logging in on my devices!

Awful app for such a wonderful paper
I’ve been trying to use this app for nearly a year. I kept thinking that the NYT will be doing improvements. I’m giving up now though: videos rarely reproduce on the first attempt, way too many ads on the news, constant glitches… very disappointing experience. I’d rather read the news online.
No offline mode & "today's paper"
Offline mode reading is essential for a paid news app. I can't download today's paper when I have good internet and just read it later.
I also don't want an infinite scroll app, just give me an option to see the printed paper in this app.

Destroyed “You Tab”
I second all the recent negative review regarding changes to the “You”. The latest updates have destroyed it. You can no longer curate your own content. Read the other reviews for more details. It is a major step backwards. I may have to switch to subscribing to the newsletters as a compromise solution
