Fix MIQ!

This app is mostly useless for New Zealanders overseas as our citizenship no longer allows us entry into the county.

Doesn’t Work For iPad

New Zealand has recently entered Level 4, and wants to keep close tabs on people to avoid COVID transmission. Yes, that is commendable. Unfortunately, not everyone owns a smartphone. I use an iPad for all my digital needs, and since it isn’t a model with telephony ability, this NZ COVID App Tracer doesn’t work because the Bluetooth needs constant internet/mobile data informational exchange, and the iPad just doesn’t do that. So unfortunately, this app is useless on the iPad.

Crashes at launch recently

A recent update fixed the problem and it seems the issue was also that I was running a beta release of iOS and forgot that I’d been using that phone with that version.

I’ve been a regular scanner, turned on Bluetooth exposure checks, everything. But just a few days ago the app started crashing at launch. Deleted it and reinstalled. Rebooted my phone. Everything I can think of. Have started to use Rippl in the meantime as I hope maybe it is some bug that will be fixed in next release of this app.

Response from developer

Thanks for getting in touch to let us know. We are aware that NZ COVID Tracer currently crashes on the beta release of iOS 14.5. There is now a new version of the beta (beta2). Please upgrade to beta2 when it is available to you. This may take up to a few days to appear. Please don't reinstall the app - this will delete your diary and won't fix the problem.

Can’t open app

I can’t open the app on iOS 14.5. Crashes instantly. Tried reinstalling and restarting phone.

Needs to add diary entry on open.

Currently when you use a QR code scanner (like ios native one) it only launches/opens the app. It doesn’t add the venues entry to your diary as it really should do to be a seamless experience.

So you still have to then stand there, navigate a few taps refocus and rescan the code. Really sub optimal.

If you really want people to scan then fix this behaviour/process so it’s a one stop one scan process.

Response from developer

Thanks for your feedback. We're working hard on making the registration process more streamlined and supporting built-in password managers is something we're looking into. I've passed your feedback onto the development team to include in the next release planning schedule.
