What's New in Odin's Checkers
2.7.0
October 30, 2026
New: optimized for iPhone Duo. • Open the phone and the board fills the inner display; close it and your game carries on, on the outer display, right where you were. • Stand it partly open like a book: the board stays on the flat half, the players and whose turn it is on the standing one. • Video Instructions gain an iPhone Duo chapter, played on a Duo. Also in this version: • Choose the board you play on: four new looks — Oak, Oak & Iron, Engraved Cherry and Green Leather — on every board size, in Settings, the new gear on the main menu, along with Sound and Language. • House Rules has a button that puts both rules back to the standard ones. • How to Play explains every tradition, and the Video Instructions have a new chapter on using the app, each caption held long enough to read. • Online: an agreed draw is counted once, even when it is accepted out of turn, and a result reaches your record only once; when a resignation in a turn-based match can't be sent, the results card says so. • On an iPhone Duo the results card and the Pass & Play hand-off sit on the board's half; opened, the results card sets the result beside its buttons. Its buttons are never cut in a long language, on Apple TV too. • Apple TV: Back during a game opens the Pause menu, and Play/Pause pressed just as a game ends no longer opens it over the result; the Pass & Play hand-off appears over the board; How to Play's long cards read a step at a time; the Transcript title wraps. • Apple TV and iPad: the board is larger, using space that was left empty. • Mac: the window opens showing the whole menu, in two columns; the menu bar no longer acts on a screen hidden behind a lesson or a dialog; a crash when a draw offer or a Nearby invitation was taken back is fixed; VoiceOver no longer stops on unnamed squares; the Transcript opens full size. • With many players nearby the Live Match list scrolls; invitations never squeeze the inviter's words; the names of the other traditions Quick Async Match offers are never broken mid-word; the hints name your device's own gesture. • Arabic, Hebrew and Urdu turn the screens right to left the moment you pick them, titles in Arabic and Indian scripts keep their letters joined, and text everywhere draws exactly as laid out. • Larger Text: the game screen, the Video Instructions, the widget and the Game Menu fit the largest sizes; How Ranks Work and Play Someone Nearby scroll.
