What's New in Ohms Terrain

1.6.0

August 22, 2026

AUv3 stability and control update: malformed or stale host state now fails silent, while valid host projects restore headlessly from MIDI. The custom plug-in view adds a quick guide, four clearly explained travel modes, full Filter, Delay, and Reverb editors, and actionable Morph setup. The Audio Unit now appears under the full Ohms Terrain name in host search. Slice markers also snap to nearby zero-crossings, Equal and Detect slices sit on the play-mode row, and the Mac remembers its output device. Everything stays on your device.

Impressive

Clean workflow compared to other samplers, everything feels smooth, you can make some amazing sounds with the right sample, the demo sample is funny, but that’s okay

Response from developer

Thank you for the write-up. A workflow that stays smooth was the goal, so it is good to hear it holds up next to other samplers. Point taken on the demo sample — it is there so the app does something the moment you open it, and it does not have to stay that way. If there is one change that would make this a five, https://ohmslaw.net/apps/ohms-terrain/support reaches me directly.

Crashes

Feels really promising, but crashes way too often. Plus there is no manual? Something this deep needs a detailed manual or instructional videos. For $29.99 I expect the plugin to be fully tested before rolled out. It feels like it was pushed out before it was ready. This needs a lot more work.
Why are there non-responsive buttons when loaded as an Auv3? Clicking on sequence and both does nothing, you can’t adjust the morph slider, and you can’t tweak the effects. It really doesn’t make sense to have those in the slicer version if they don’t actually do anything.
Unless you’re able to correct these issues, I’m afraid I’m going to need to request a full refund.

Response from developer

We’re sorry the earlier version fell short. The latest iPad release, version 1.6, adds an AUv3 Quick Guide, four working travel modes, clear setup for Morph’s second bank, editable Filter/Delay/Reverb controls, and a guard for oversized host state. If 1.6 still crashes in your host, please use the App Support link and send the host name, device/iPadOS version, and the steps immediately before the crash so we can reproduce that exact path.
