Awful app UX, but good hardware.

The OIO app is extremely frustrating to use. Adding bulbs is almost impossible—it often takes multiple unsuccessful attempts before a bulb finally connects, and each attempt can take 4–5 minutes. What should be a simple setup process turns into a lengthy troubleshooting session.

What’s even more disappointing is that the bulbs can be added to Apple Home almost immediately, which suggests the issue is with the OIO app itself. However, if you use Apple Home, you lose access to the circadian lighting features, which are the primary reason I purchased this product in the first place.

The hardware seems promising, but the app experience is so unreliable and difficult that it significantly diminishes the value of the product. Overall, I’m very disappointed - with the price point of the hardware being so high, the app should be top notch.

The best smart light experience

This is the best smart light bulb I’ve tried, and I’m using it a ton with my newborn daughter. The spectral information is absolutely clutch for not disrupting her clock at night. Two requests on the app side: 1) if the animation on launch could be faster and/or skipped, that would be great (I usually want to change the lights pretty urgently when I click on the app), and 2) I’ve got a schedule set up for when to transition to night mode, but it doesn’t seem to work— I always have to manually change it. Overall, though, awesome product: this is what circadian tech should be
