Great that it’s free, but…

I really do appreciate that they made this app free, but the card draws are not actually random.

For example, let’s say you have played a tan sun, and a tan moon, and you have a tan key in your hand that you’re about to play. You will draw nightmare a card, and if you try to simply discard five cards from the deck instead of discarding the key, or the whole hand, you will draw another nightmare card. And another, and another, if you repeat the pattern. The game wants that key. This has happened to me way too many times for it to be random chance.

So it’s cool, but the game is hard enough as it is. I don’t understand why they added coding to make it artificially harder; it would be more fun if the card draws were truly random. Maybe it’s just a glitch; who knows?

Great game, wasted app

I’m glad I bought a physical copy of Onirim when I did. I originally discovered the game through this digital version, but sadly it seems it’s become nearly unplayable over time. I was miffed to lose my expansions after the app changed hands, and now I’ve revisited the app only to find it extremely glitchy: if it loads at all (if Game Center doesn’t crash it at launch), the pull-down for the settings menu renders a black screen, then a freeze before crashing to my Home Screen. Restarting the app, I can begin a new game, only for it to blackout, freeze, and crash as soon as I begin tapping to move cards. The biggest benefit to this app was the ability to hop into a quick game without needing to shuffle all the necessary cards myself. Big win for analog. Go buy the real Onirim & an automatic card shuffler; this app is barely hanging on by a thread, and the physical game has the benefit of multiple expansions bundled into one gorgeously compact box.

Bring back ability to fast forward

I’ve played this app 5-10 times everyday for the past year. Loved it. I’ve grown used to rapidly flipping through shuffling animations by pressing somewhere on the screen. For some reason, this feature was eliminated with the latest update. The game is way more tedious now that it’s forced to slow down (even with the ability to toggle animation speed in settings). It’s frustratingly slow now that I can’t speed things up at a finger press during gameplay. I regret installing the update- please bring back the ability to fast forward.

Please speed up animations dramatically

It’s great to see this app finally getting support again, but you’ve now made the animations bafflingly slow and have totally removed the ability to speed them up by holding on a blank spot on the screen. Why? Even at top speed, everything is extremely, unpleasantly sluggish. I used to play this app almost daily, but since this update, I get bored before I can even finish a game because I have to sit and watch for minutes at a time while the app sloooooooooowly shuffles through everything. Again, good to see someone caring at all about this app, but you’ve only made it worse at this point.

Great solo card game

Thank you, new developer, for acquiring this game from the prior owner and updating it to work properly. So good to have this back!

This is one of the best solo card games out there. Simple enough to not be off-putting to a casual gamer, but complex enough to keep you interested. And the expansions add even more interesting elements once you get the hang of the basic game, so you can change things up each time you play.

Perfect to play on a short work break since games only take a few minutes. And I’m so glad it’s in portrait mode, I don’t like landscape games.

It’s good on storage and battery too. The only glitch I’ve encountered is that sometimes it crashes when Game Center loads. But if you try again it works. No biggie, and I’m sure they’ll fix it at some point.

Thank you for updating the app!

Finally back!

Ah, what a sigh of relief. I’m so happy to see an update to the app after 4 years. Asmodee had really done a terrible job with a lot of the apps they created and this one fell to the wayside. One of the iOS updates essentially broke it and it was barely playable on iPhone.

Happy to report that inpatience has acquired and updated the app! Finally I can play Onirim on mobile in portrait orientation. There’s still some graphical bugs that need to be worked out, but 4 stars for the playable app as well as updating. This is my 2nd most played game ever, behind drop7. I have over 700 games logged on this app, and I think I had more before Asmodee erased my record one time over the years.

I’m hoping inpatience adds more extensions (although just the first 2 alone make this game great), but more importantly, i hope they release more digital versions of the Oniverse series!

Lastly, I’m so happy they reprinted Shadi’s games! I was finally able to pick up one of them that I waited years for. I have 3 physical Oniverse games in my collection (of over 150) and I hope to add the rest eventually.

Welcome, inpatience, I’m glad you’re here!

Response from developer

Hi Cone, Thanks for your feedback. I'm sure you will find more variety and replay value with the Glyphs and Crossroads and Dead Ends expansions. A new expansion is coming very soon. Don't hesistate to contact us if you need some help or some advices here: https://asmodee.helpshift.com/a/onirim/ Best regards, The Asmodee Digitial Support Team

Fun, good effects, one annoying bug

It’s a fun game that makes you really think through probability and logic in different ways. I love the Nightmare sound. One very annoying bug is that sometimes the UI won’t let you discard. It takes several tries before it recognizes that you’re trying to discard.

Great game, excellent app version

Smooth app for a great game. I’ve had others say they prefer the app since it shuffles for you… well, I actually love the physical game; i find the short play time and frequent shuffles to be oddly calming. So ya; enjoy the game on the app, but don’t discount the physical game. It’s arguably the best in the Oniverse series.

Wonderful

Somewhat easy to learn, and then it’s just addictive! I hate seeing those nightmares pop up. Hate em! It might seem like they come up too frequently but the game plays totally fair. You can definitely develop a strategy to this. It said to sign in to asmodee and I would get an expansion or something but I didn’t notice anything after I signed in. I will be getting the DLC after a while. At 99 cents each it’s a steal. If you want to try a game you can learn quickly and that’s totally fun look no further. Try this game!!!

Imaginative, simple, and fun

It's pretty simple and fun. A bit of risk, luck, and strategy. The rules are easy to pick up, and it's got a nice theme going as far as the gameplay itself goes. It does end pretty quickly, but other than that, it's not bad.

Fun, but way too hard

The difficulty is insane. I’ll be doing amazing at the start, then suddenly draw nightmare cards left and right and lose all cards in my deck, end up not having the cards to win. So far I haven’t won a single game, even with no expansions turned on. Generally doesn’t want me to buy any of the expansions to make the game further impossible. It’s HIGHLY based on luck.

Simple fun!

Push your luck style card game with a bit of strategy thrown in so you still have some decisions to make. Quick and easy to play means it is easy to say, “one more game…” if you lose. Fun little solo filler. 🙂

Solid Card Game

This is a really good game. You can grasp the rules quickly after a few playthroughs, but it really challenges you to think through for the right move each turn. It’s is perfect when you have a little time to spare and want a quick challenge.

Great game, not-great app

Just up front, it’s clear the developer has abandoned this app, so get it at your own risk. Onirim is a fun game. However, this app has a real “minimum required effort” vibe. The text is tiny and hard to read, the screen layout is not well designed, the control is extremely clumsy in some spots, and the animations are sloooooooooooow. So slow. Excruciatingly. I’ve also run into a number of bugs that prevent me from winning sometimes—for example, I hit a point where the game would not accept any set to open the rainbow door (nor any key in my hand). I even had the card that allowed me to open any door with any color. Still forced to lose.

Fix aspect ratio

The pictures show a virtual rotation being used, but the game forces me to use horizontal. I don’t mind too much, but it’s more of a windowed look so o can still see other things like time and battery percentage…etc. It doesn’t look good.

Other than that, it’s a great game! I can’t find the card version anywhere, so I downloaded this. It’s a lot of fun!

Great for when you need to fill in some time

This game is challenging, with a good balance of skill vs luck. I know the cards are random, but it can seem like those nightmares are out to get you. It is a great game for when you need to fill in some time, as a single round doesn’t take very long. I know this is also a physical card game, but I actually prefer the app, as it shuffles for you. Highly recommended!

Game freezes with five suns and can’t play

I get a hand of five suns. Last card played is a sun. I can’t discard or refresh my hand or do any thing. How to resolve this problem. Tried contacting Asmodee digital support and after solo g their puzzle got stuck in an endless loop where my question did seem to get submitted and back to solve puzzle to verify me. Otherwise works ok.

I like it!

I like the card game. Thought I’d try the digital version. Aesthetically pleasing and intuitive interface makes for an easy transition from analog to digital play. I like playing with the cards the best but this digital version is a very close second.

So much fun

I had never heard of this game, but I have other Asmodee apps, and, after seeing some of the recent reviews of this game, thought I’d give it a try. I’m glad I did! It’s a great way to decompress after the stressful days we are currently going through. The game always presents a challenge, which keeps me interested. There are add-ons that I haven’t tried yet. I’m having too much fun with the original game!

I don’t know

When I got this game I thought it would be fun but the game is so challenging I always get the same kind of card every game! I forgot what those monster cards are called but there are to many of them! There should be less. This game needs to be easier I know it’s the point of games to be challenging but this has gone far enough I’ll still play it it just makes me mad!
