Constant connectivity issues

My Onkyo receiver is Crutchfield’s Best Bang for the Buck of the Year, and for good reason. It sounds beautiful and provides all the power I personally need. Unfortunately, it’s also plagued by connectivity issues because of the app.

I’ve owned the receiver for a couple of months, and during that time I’ve had to reinstall the app and go through the setup process many times—probably a dozen times. The app frequently loses its Wi-Fi connection, and then it loses connection to the receiver itself.

As a result, my listening sessions often begin with 20 minutes of troubleshooting and setup. That’s simply unacceptable for a product at this level. I’m keeping it for now in the hope that Onkyo addresses these issues with a future app update.

No Connection

RZ50 owner here. The receiver is great but the app is absolutely worthless. If I’m determined and have enough patience, I can cycle through unplugging my receiver and get it to connect temporarily. It’s just not worth it though. I came from a Denon receiver and their app is much, much more reliable.

Random

Just failed to connect one day and never was able to connect again

Why????

The RZ70 is phenomenal! But then it’s dragged down by a glitchy, half baked app that works only when the planets align? Why Onkyo?

Multiple bug fixes but problems continue

I’ve been using this app since released and it’s still buggy. I love it when it works, but it constantly disconnects from my LAN and won’t reconnect. My TX-NR686 receiver and iPhone are still connected to the network but the app says it’s disconnected. I have to delete the app and then setup again. It won’t find the receiver so I have to manually configure.
