App / Network Connectivity Issue

App / Network Connectivity Issue

Needs major upgrade/re-write

Editing the Dirac curve is nearly impossible because the curve is super sensitive when making adjustments and forget about using an iphone. I tried using the app on my iPad but since I started using my iPhone to edit, it won’t let me edit the Dirac curve on my iPad unless I re-take the measurements. Using the controller only sets speaker tone or speaker level temporarily only. It doesn’t save and reverts back to original Dirac settings. This is so frustrating and the only work around is to keep my iPhone open and don’t let the screen lock. So, having 3 separate slots is also useless. Whoever developed this app for Onkyo should be fired!!!!

Infinite loop

I have been using the app for many years. I have had intermittent connectivity issues and would likely give a 3 star review. However; the most recent update now makes the app unusable. If you do not accept the Googlecast privacy policy the app no longer works. I don’t want, or use google. Rather than making this a requirement IF you want to use google it is a blanket acceptance requirement to use any of the app. Very poor design choice and makes the app useless

Horrible!

This is perhaps the worst app I’ve ever used. I constantly have connectivity issues. Listening to music is supposed to be enjoyable. Instead, it just ends up being frustrating.

This thing is sucking

They have now FORCED you to accept Google cast even if you don’t want it to get access to the remote! WHAT GIVES???

Can’t save memory presets

Was using app with two zones (living room theater and kitchen radio) for years with my TN-XR575. Since ? a few years ago radio stations could no longer be saved in Memory presets. There are 40 of them (presets), but setting a specific FM station to any of them is no longer possible. Minor annoyance :-(

Stop forcing google BS!!

App was great until the last update 3.65 because they force you to agree to EUA to google cast. Which, like others I don’t use. I won’t use and I’m not an accepting the damned agreement. Hey Onkyo MAKE IT GO AWAY!!!

This app is terrible

Less than 1-star

Onkyo controller

Terrible interface and the app will not connect over WiFi or Bluetooth on my iPhone . Can coo ect via airplay or Bluetooth from other apps absolutely fine. Configure the menu options on the unit itself to register on my local router no problem . This app is absolutely terrible

Will recurrently lose connection

Whether it is the app or the hardware/software of the Onkyo AV receiver , the result is a disaster: the connection to the Receiver gets lost every once in a while and requires to start the whole messy process again, to end up getting the same result again.
Even when the amplifier is connected through Ethernet, the result is the same, indicating that the issue is not arising from potential wifi connection problems.
Onkyo has a serious problem with getting their environment to the 21st century world of smart homes.

“Google Cast” terms of agreement blocks Controller

This latest version is stuck on accepting Google Cast terms and it has no functionality as a remote unless you agree to the terms, which I will not accept. It is useless

TIDAL works great

I have experienced no bugs

Delete the app and reinstall

Delete the app and reinstall is working with the new version

Stop making me agree to Google terms and services

App was fine until it started forcing me to agree to Google Cast terms and services despite the fact that I have no interest in using Google cast. All I want to do it control the receiver from my friggin phone, but there is no way to opt out of garbage I don’t want

Latest update is a EUA trap!

I’M SO MAD! I updated this app just to find out that I can’t use it unless I agree to an EUA for a Google product that I don’t use and don’t plan to use! There’s no way out, you either agree or you can’t use the app! RIDICULOUS! It makes me feel like the whole app is being used to gather information about me regardless of using the Google app or not! I’d give it less than one star if I could.

Listening Options Need Work

Controller has delayed connection but works good most of the time. Biggest gripe is the lack of audio selectability. Cycling through all the listening options is terrible. Give me a single button for a particular listening option. It defaults to surround which is one option “ahead” of DD. If I want to listen in Dolby Digital I have to cycle through the entire list. Lame.

Constant connectivity issues

My Onkyo receiver is Crutchfield’s Best Bang for the Buck of the Year, and for good reason. It sounds beautiful and provides all the power I personally need. Unfortunately, it’s also plagued by connectivity issues because of the app.

I’ve owned the receiver for a couple of months, and during that time I’ve had to reinstall the app and go through the setup process many times—probably a dozen times. The app frequently loses its Wi-Fi connection, and then it loses connection to the receiver itself.

As a result, my listening sessions often begin with 20 minutes of troubleshooting and setup. That’s simply unacceptable for a product at this level. I’m keeping it for now in the hope that Onkyo addresses these issues with a future app update.

No Connection

RZ50 owner here. The receiver is great but the app is absolutely worthless. If I’m determined and have enough patience, I can cycle through unplugging my receiver and get it to connect temporarily. It’s just not worth it though. I came from a Denon receiver and their app is much, much more reliable.

Just failed to connect one day and never was able to connect again

Why????

The RZ70 is phenomenal! But then it’s dragged down by a glitchy, half baked app that works only when the planets align? Why Onkyo?
