Latest update is a EUA trap!

I’M SO MAD! I updated this app just to find out that I can’t use it unless I agree to an EUA for a Google product that I don’t use and don’t plan to use! There’s no way out, you either agree or you can’t use the app! RIDICULOUS! It makes me feel like the whole app is being used to gather information about me regardless of using the Google app or not! I’d give it less than one star if I could.

Listening Options Need Work

Controller has delayed connection but works good most of the time. Biggest gripe is the lack of audio selectability. Cycling through all the listening options is terrible. Give me a single button for a particular listening option. It defaults to surround which is one option “ahead” of DD. If I want to listen in Dolby Digital I have to cycle through the entire list. Lame.

Constant connectivity issues

My Onkyo receiver is Crutchfield’s Best Bang for the Buck of the Year, and for good reason. It sounds beautiful and provides all the power I personally need. Unfortunately, it’s also plagued by connectivity issues because of the app.

I’ve owned the receiver for a couple of months, and during that time I’ve had to reinstall the app and go through the setup process many times—probably a dozen times. The app frequently loses its Wi-Fi connection, and then it loses connection to the receiver itself.

As a result, my listening sessions often begin with 20 minutes of troubleshooting and setup. That’s simply unacceptable for a product at this level. I’m keeping it for now in the hope that Onkyo addresses these issues with a future app update.

No Connection

RZ50 owner here. The receiver is great but the app is absolutely worthless. If I’m determined and have enough patience, I can cycle through unplugging my receiver and get it to connect temporarily. It’s just not worth it though. I came from a Denon receiver and their app is much, much more reliable.

Random

Just failed to connect one day and never was able to connect again

Why????

The RZ70 is phenomenal! But then it’s dragged down by a glitchy, half baked app that works only when the planets align? Why Onkyo?

Multiple bug fixes but problems continue

I’ve been using this app since released and it’s still buggy. I love it when it works, but it constantly disconnects from my LAN and won’t reconnect. My TX-NR686 receiver and iPhone are still connected to the network but the app says it’s disconnected. I have to delete the app and then setup again. It won’t find the receiver so I have to manually configure.

Mise à jour

Depuis la dernière mise à jour impossible de me connecter. Proverbe qui dit ‘’ la patente marche bien, ne touche pas à la patente ‘’ où l’art de scraper quelques chose qui fonctionne.

Bad app. Worthless

Horrible useless app. Does not work. Buggy. Counter intuitive and dumb.

Doesnt support selecting listening modes 7.1

When i select stereo surround, i cannot set all channels all thru the app. I can not enable all speakers anymore unless i go to the receiver settings and set configuration mode. Frustrating.

Lack of VoiceOver support

I am blind and use a feature on my iPhone called VoiceOver that is a screen reader. The app used to be fully compatible with VoiceOver and speak everything to me now it is very buggy and quite a job to select an input so app developers please get it tested out with VoiceOver willing to help in any way I can

What’s the point if I can’t just deep settings

Barely a remote controller. Need to be able to access all settings from the phone to be worth picking up over the actual remote.

Waste

Don’t bother

Was great until it wasn’t

I have TX-RZ70 and had no problems connecting or using the app to do basic adjustments. Over the past 3 months the Bluetooth and AirPlay functions started showing some random song that I can’t remove, play or chose another app to stream which renders the function useless. I’ve deleted and reinstalled the app and the song keeps coming up. Very frustrating and no support to fix.

Still doesn't display the listening mode after however many years...

It's just blank. Seriously, just a blank space where the listening mode should be. Makes me wonder if any has actually ever used this app?

Pointless

App never works. Constantly having to unplug the receiver to even get it to connect to it.

Useless

This app could be great. If it worked. Regularly fails to connect to my RZ30 and the only way to fix it is to delete and reinstall, which is utterly unacceptable for a company of the size and reputation of Onkyo. Apparently, they need to either fire all their devs or have them tweak something off the shelf that actually functions.

Why bother

If they are going to release such a buggy app why bother? Also Dirac doesn’t work well at all. The funny part is they have the audacity to charge for licenses.

Onkyo app is nice but needs more

I recently acquired an onkyo icon A50 and I have been enjoying it tremendously. The app has been nice enough to use and it is totally suitable for the task. I like the volume knob on the app with haptic feedback. It’s very intuitive.

I’d like to request that the engineers consider providing more information about the audio stream like actual bit rate for the DAC, amplifier voltages, temperature, whatever the micro controller gets to see I think it would be tremendous to double check that the amp is seeing the stream at the quality I intend.
