Great idea. Not so much the implementation
Got the hardware. Plugged in. Working. Connected to the server. I can use command line control but that is cumbersome and I am not e pert enough to get full functionality. The app is a great idea and provides an interface for that. Except it doesn’t work. Shame.
Must have for LEAF owners!
If you’re frustrated with CARWINGS/NissanConnect EV, OVMS is for you! Especially if you have a 2015 or older with 2G TCU that probably doesn’t work anymore. Just buy the OVMS box, set it up and connect it to your OBDII port. Has LTE & Wi-Fi support, so it will work for many years to come!

Issue with 2013 Nissan Leaf more recent update
AC ON / OFF button doesn’t show up in the app anymore. Have to use Homelink option 1 to turn ON and 2 to turn OFF.
TPMS tire pressure details are not shown anymore.
Lock and Unlock also doesn’t work!

It works, kinda…
I got my OVMS around November and installed it in my 2016 LEAF. It works well, and I went so far as to self host the server software. The android app works MUCH better than this iOS app. Not sure what’s going on, but I only have about 1/3 the capability in iOS than on android. I bought a fire tablet just so I could have a “start the heater” button.
In iOS I'm only getting a way to start and stop charging, battery status, map location, lock and unlock, and valet mode.
Also a command line where I can take the time to type “climatecontrol on” and pray it works.
Really hope the iOS version gets an update to bring feature parody to android.

Nissan Leaf Upgrade!
I’m very happy with my purchase and will gladly support the OVMS project. I just finished setting up the module in my vehicle with GSM and it works like a charm.
REMEMBER LEAF USERS: If you want Remote Climate + Lock/Unlock set Vehicle > Features > Can Write to :1 from :0 in the app to enable this feature after unplugging your 2G TCU. This will get you back on track to be able to get your car nice and toasty with a simple command.
Coming from iOS development I will be glad to support the project with whatever skills I possess to help users take advantage of this software!

Nissan Leaf
I bought their OVMS module for my 2013 Nissan Leaf and updated to their latest firmware. Even unplugged the TCU diagnostic connector. It took a while to setup, and the wizard was easy to follow hence the 1 star in my review. Other than battery stats, nothing is working!

Support for MG ZS EV is coming
This is a great app with lots of potential to be very useful. At the moment it has a little support for the ZS EV, but the developers are working on it to bring more functionality for the MG.
Great app
Ovms is so much better then Nissan EV connect system. It works great installed in my Nissan Leaf to view real-time state of charge, charging speed, battery temperature and activate remote climate control. App is super fast to reload and does not require anytime to refresh unlike the Nissan system.
12v battery addition
This is so useful as none of the outlets in the car remain live, so it is hard to know what the voltage is after a settling period, which can give you advanced warning of end of life. I used to use sms message communication for it but that stopped working with my Sim. Now I don’t care! It’s always on display.

Good alternative solution
Works great in My Tesla roadster. Doesn’t completely replace the VDI but works as advertised. Updating the firmware without the sim activated via USB can be tricky to a Novice.

Great App
I love this app, I use it on my Tesla Roadster and it's been flawless. I would love to see some more features added like time to end of charge and some additional temperature info etc. Also the ability to initiate a cooldown or some other OVMS features. I'd also like to see a landscape view and CarPlay support.

OVMS Great App!
I use this app with the OVMS module in my Tesla Roadster and it never ceases to amaze me what a cracking app this is. the ability to start and stop charge, change carge mode, see battery SOC, lock/unlock, valet mode, car location and speed... they have crammed almost everything you could ever want into this app!
Obviously need to buy the Module and antena to install in the car to work with this...

Open-Source at its best
Latest update adds configurable measurements and access the the home link interface - very nifty - I can open my garage from my iPhone!
Amazing and useful app
The app is well written and of great use for tesla roadster owners. The developer also provides almost instantaneous excellent support. Thanks for the work on promoting remote access to Electric Vehicles!
Remotely check on charging!
The ovms already helped trip from San Jose to Santa Barbara.
Remotely checked charging status from coffee shop and could see that the charging rate was reduced. Quick check on temperatures and saw the PEM was too hot. Went back to car, opened trunk, shaded everything and within a few minutes was back at 70Amps.

Great app! Love the new version. This is probably the only app I use every day of the week.
