Do better

I was planning to renew my annual subscription, this time, but I’m very disappointed that I didn’t get a reminder email before it just happened. VERY shady behavior from any company, but even worse considering your line of business. Overall, service seems to work OK, but I’ll set my own reminder for the next renewal and probably look at alternatives.

Good

Had a massive drop in phone calls and spamming after 2 months of paying for Optery

Response from developer

Thank you so much, Jammy762! We're happy to hear that you've seen such a significant drop in spam calls and unwanted contact. That's exactly what we built Optery to do, and it's incredibly rewarding to see it working for you. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

Ineffective

NO PROGRESS in removing the most widely used sources of personal information in MONTHS even with a paid plan. Most of what’s been removed are sites you’ve never heard of and that I doubt anyone would ever use, while your data sits for MONTHS in “pending” status which means nothing is happening and you realize you’ve wasted your money on Optery and have to do it yourself.

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback on the app. Optery works on both major and smaller data broker sites since even lesser-known sites can contribute to the spread of personal information across the data broker ecosystem. That said, we understand your expectation to see faster progress on the more visible sites first. Some brokers complete removals quickly, while others can take longer and require repeated follow-ups before removals are finalized or stay down permanently. We’d appreciate the opportunity to review your account and the specific profiles you’re referring to, and we will prioritize your case for further review. Please contact us at support@optery.com and our team will look into this further.

Amazing Service!

The only thing I would change is, I wish it would keep me signed in, or there was an option for it, separate from the web version

Response from developer

Hi johnson2122, thank you for the kind words — we're glad you're enjoying the service! That's great feedback on the stay signed-in option and we'll make sure to pass it along to our product team. We appreciate you taking the time to share it!

This is a not possible

Their entire Service is a Joke- I have been paying for the last 12 months for this service , and the majority of the brokers that I show up on have not been removed- you are better off visiting each website and opting out yourself / even if it takes a Herculean effort . Someone needs to look into this entire industry Including Data Brokers - I recently found out / that this is just level one - there is a second level through services like Lexus Nexus that not even an act of Congress will remove your data from. It is there and they refuse to remove it . (In our case we have a legitimate reason since we fell Victims to Corrupt paid off Police Officers in a dangerous county in the state of Maryland . (At least the FBI is investigating our case)

Thank you for taking the time to share this — and we're truly sorry for the experience you've had. The results you've described are not what we want for any of our customers. Some data brokers do require multiple removal cycles and some are not included in our standard coverage. Please contact us directly at support@optery.com. We'll personally review your account, walk you through exactly where your removals stand and investigate further.

Stay away

With your exposure screenshot they ping and verify your ip each time. They replied to me and said they don’t practice this as a business yet I have logs of every time I logged in and out of this site from all the trackers, they claimed to hide you from. it’s the way they screenshot your info on the exposed websites every time you login in, that website exposes your data once again. I watched it happen in a real time and I have the logs to prove it.

Hi there, thanks for raising this. Just to clarify, Optery doesn’t use scans to track or monitor users. Any standard network checks (like IP handling) are only for security and to make sure the service works properly. We also take security seriously and have passed SOC 2 compliance, which means our systems and processes are independently audited to meet strict security standards. You can read more here: https://help.optery.com/en/article/how-optery-secures-your-data-a1uw2d/ If something felt off on your end, feel free to reach out to support@optery.com and we’ll take a closer look with you.

After 8 months of paying, Grok still had all my info.

I paid for Optery for 8 months and wish I could get a refund of my $200. They keep saying “it takes time”. So to top it off, I just decided to type my name and city in Grok and it still brought up my address, phone numbers, family members, employer, age, date of birth and more. When I messaged them, they said AI compiles all its info from many different sources and they can’t do anything about that. I WANT A REFUND!!

Site and App are 2 different experiences

I signed up for this service for comparison and as much as I like the site, the app is too dry and far from being user friendly. This is my second month and I’m already thinking of canceling because of the Mobile app.

Response from developer

Hi Matt, thanks for the honest feedback. You’re right, the app and site can feel different, and the mobile experience still needs improvement. Our team is working on making it more user-friendly. In the meantime, the web dashboard gives a more complete view. If you’re open, reach out to support@optery.com and we’ll help out.

Complete waste of storage space and time

DONT PAY FOR THIS APP. It’s worthless. The information they “find” is wildly inaccurate and scarce, as I’ve found more by searching my name on Google myself. Then they claim you can use the urls connected to the photos to opt out yourself but they hide the url unless you pay. And once you pay they will remove it themselves so there is no point in downloading this trash

Response from developer

Hi! Thanks for sharing your experience. A couple of things that may help clarify: the information you see in reports comes from third-party data broker sites, and those sources are often incomplete or inaccurate. That’s exactly what Optery is designed to fix, not just show results, but work to remove and reduce where your data appears across those sites. For paid plans, removals are handled for you so you don’t have to go through each site manually. We also provide visibility into where your data is found so you can track progress over time. That said, we’d really like to take a closer look at your case and make sure everything is working as expected. Please reach out to support@optery.com, we’re happy to review your account and help.

Service is Great, App Needs Improvement

The service that Optery provides, to find and remove your information off the internet, is actually pretty good. I check the monthly reports for myself and so far they have been really good at finding my information online and also showing proof of deletion.

The only reason I’m taking off a star from the review is because of their app. I feel like it needs to be more user friendly and more convenient for the user. The amount they charge for their service, I would also want a very decent app for that price too.

Response from developer

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear that the service and monthly reports have been helpful, and that you’re seeing clear proof of removals. We also appreciate your honest input about the app. Your point is well taken, and we agree that the app experience should match the quality of the service. Improving usability and overall convenience is something we’re actively working on. If you have any specific suggestions, we’d be happy to hear them at support@optery.com . Your feedback helps us continue to improve.

So far so good! Ultimate Customer.

They have been doing what I hired them to do so far and removing my personal information sold all over the web and Dark ScamWeb. The screenshots are in my profile of the exposure, the process status, and when removed a screenshot of no information found search results. As for the scam "Dishonest" brokers if they won't remove I want to see containment and hamming anymore they sell to. Even escalation and threatening legal action if the information showing is false inflammatory slanderous or misleading. Bottom line I understand this is a never ending battle at the same time I want to see if not removed to be contained and or buried as long as you guys are doing your job and hamming and keeping the pressure on you’ll have a customer for a long long time thank you for your work so far.

FYI some of these not so great reviews on here are possibly scamming brokers or maybe someone that does not quite understand this is long battle against an enemy that will not play fair (DarkScamWeb). Unless you have $1000's to burn on a lawfirm that can't do much against someone or some company outside of your own this is one of your better options as long as they keep up their end of the deal and hammer these jokers with requests and escalate accordingly in a not so friendly manner after many nice attempts have failed.

Thank you for the detailed review and for sharing your experience. You’re absolutely right that this is an ongoing process. New data can appear over time, and some sites take more persistence than others. Our team continues to submit removals, follow up, and escalate when needed to keep pressure on data brokers and reduce your exposure. We’re glad to hear you’re seeing progress and that the dashboard updates and screenshots have been helpful in tracking results. That visibility is something we work hard to provide. Thanks again for your trust and for sticking with us.

I love it

I love it but you need to do better than the rest be affordable delete to protect someone information

Thanks for the 5 stars and feedback.

Alternatively input my information on other sites;

It did the alternative; inputting my information into other sites. Like govt sites that wasn’t there before.

Response from developer

We understand your concern. Optery does not add your information to new sites. We only act as your authorized agent to submit opt-out requests on your behalf. We do not create profiles or input your data in a way that would make it publicly available. If you’d like us to review this with you, please reach out to support@optery.com. Look elsewhere

I’m extremely disappointed with Optery. Customer service is basically non-existent. There’s no phone number to call and speak with a real person — everything is handled by bots or automated responses, which makes it impossible to get actual help when you need it.

I paid for the highest level plan expecting better support and more hands-on service, but it feels no different from the free version. The platform did identify a few sites that supposedly needed to be contacted to remove my data, but they haven’t even reached out to those sites. So I’m paying for a premium service that isn’t actually doing the work it claims to do.

Your only option for customer service is email or a chat in the app that requires you to send a message with your info they already have to answer basic questions each time.

Overall, it feels misleading to charge for a top-tier plan when the level of service is the same as the free option. If you’re expecting real support or proactive data removal, don’t expect much. Very frustrating experience.

Hi, We’re really sorry to hear about your experience this isn’t the level of service we aim to provide. We understand your concerns around support and removal progress. For paid plans, Optery does carry out removals on your behalf, but timelines can vary depending on each data broker. That said, we’d like to review your account to confirm what’s been completed and what’s in progress. We also hear your feedback on support access. While we currently provide support via email and in-app chat, your experience matters and we take this seriously. Please contact us at support@optery.com and we’ll escalate this and work with you directly to resolve it.

It works as intended

Takes a long time to remove the information yourself. I bought a membership to quicken the process.

Response from developer

Hi Equinox 99, Appreciate the review. Glad to hear it’s working as expected and helping speed things up. You’re right, doing this manually can take a lot of time. That’s exactly what we aim to take off your plate. If anything comes up or you want us to check specific results, just reach out to support@optery.com.

Not for me

I wouldn’t purchase this app.

Response from developer

We’re sorry to hear about your experience. Our goal is to reduce your online exposure and limit spam, but removals aren’t instant data brokers can republish info, and Google results take time to update. Some info may also be outside what we can remove. You can learn more here: Will Optery stop all of my robo calls and email spam? https://help.optery.com/en/article/will-optery-stop-all-of-my-robo-calls-and-email-spam-i0hxwp/ If your account showed limited or no data, it means your info wasn’t publicly visible at the time, not that it was ignored. New listings can appear over time, which is why ongoing monitoring is part of the service. We would like to review your account to understand what happened and check why you’re seeing these results. For Apple subscriptions, cancellations must be done through your Optery App. Otherwise, we’re happy to help cancel on our end. Please reach out to support at support@optery.com so we can prioritize your request and review everything with you directly.

Don't pay for this service

I paid for ultimate tier and am fed up. They are deceitful about what they do. They combine the items they removed with items they didn't find were compromised or needed attention. I messaged for a more specific breakdown of how much has been actually removed and they said they don't have that data which is either dishonest or a system designed to avoid record keeping of the one thing they actually do so they can get credit for sites that weren't compromised in the first place. The graphic showing what is being removed (or what didn't need to be removed) has crept along for 5 months, still over a quarter of sites in progress. My spam calls and texts and mail has not reduced. For over ~$125 paid at this point, I would expect a lot better service. Prices have skyrocketed in recent years for this service but you are clearly not getting what you pay for. I can't imagine at this speed the ultimate price got me any special time or attention. If you want to pay for years to eventually get removed, pay for Optery. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

Response from developer

Thank you for your honest feedback. On the dashboard we group certain statuses together to simplify reporting. For the Removals Protection status, we combine “Removed” and “Not Found” into one status. This happens because a single data broker can have multiple profiles for the same person (different name or location variations), and some removals happen during gaps between scans. This can make it hard to separate what was actually removed versus what was never found, so the system shows them together as Removed / Not Found to make the display easier to understand. You can read more about that here: why we combine “Removed” and “Not Found” statuses. That said, I understand that seeing a high number of “Removed / Not Found” without clear differentiation can feel misleading if you’re trying to see exactly what was removed versus what was never exposed. I’ll flag this feedback to our product team so they can consider ways to make this clearer in the app. We always aim to be transparent about the work being done, and I’m sorry if the current reporting didn’t communicate that clearly for you. Please feel free to reach out to support@optery.com if you need more information.

Complete innacurate results

I thought I’d check out the free version with the idea of buying the subscription, but with massive number of false positives there’s no way I could justify paying for this.

My first, last name is fairly common. But my middle name isn’t. Still the software served me hundreds of instances with people with completely different middle names.

I could understand if the middle name was absent or just the middle initial was used, but when the middle name is nowhere near my middle name it’s bad software algorithms at work.

UPDATE: as they requested I provided them with an email with more details. I got back a canned response that pushes a subscription to solve my problem. Suggestions included all the things I initially did based on their recommendations to get more accurate data.

Why on earth would I subscribe when the free data they have provided is so wildly inaccurate?

Response from developer

Our algorithm usually does a good job of finding your profiles, but sometimes it can pick up records that belong to someone else with a similar name, age, or location. Data brokers themselves can also mix up information, which can lead to false positives. Since you were using the free version, your report is fully automated. You might see extra profiles if your name is common or if there isn’t enough information to narrow down the matches. Adding details like your middle name, other names, or past locations can help improve accuracy: https://app.optery.com/profile We really want to make sure the information and guidance we provide is accurate, so it would be super helpful if you could email us at support@optery.com with the details of this issue. That way, we can look into it more closely and make sure everything is handled properly.

After 4 months…

not much has changed .. I was desperate for relief from all the spam texts.. hoped the basic $40 plan would help.. alas, spam texts persist, plentifully after 4 months. Also, the status reports break the progress into three categories: In-progress, Pending (isn’t that the same as “in-progress”??) and “Removed/Not Found.” WHY are “Removed” and Not-found lumped into one? I can’t tell if they’ve only managed to remove 1 while 100 others are “not found.” Needs to be more transparent. And what’s the difference between pending and in-progress. Come on y’all.
Either way, 4 months in, there appears to be no difference in the amount of spam I’m receiving :/

Response from developer

Hi there, thanks for sharing your experience and feedback. We completely understand how frustrating that is. A bit of clarity on how things work: Optery acts only as your Authorized Agent to submit opt-out and deletion requests on your behalf, as agreed in our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. We don’t sell your data or share it in ways that generate spam. About the statuses: * In Progress means a request is actively being worked on. * Pending means we’re waiting for the data broker to accept or process the request. We know these can feel similar, and your feedback on this is helpful. * Removed / Not Found are grouped because either way your data is no longer publicly available, but we agree it could be more transparent, and we’ve shared this with our product team. Spam can still appear for reasons outside our control, like automated spammers or reused lists, but we remain committed to removing your information from the data brokers that feed these lists. We’d like to take a closer look at your account to see what’s happening with your removals. Please reach out to our support team at support@optery.com, and we’ll check your account and help as much as we can.
