They take your money while providing no service

I was charged automatically for 3 months for almost 900 USD and only had 2 therapy sessions. At the end of our second session we told the therapist that we need to pause and we agreed on the plan but I did not know I have to pause from the app and my therapist did not inform me. Monthly charges continued till I figured out I have to do that in the app. The therapist was not helpful and just agreed with whatever we said.

Terrible Refund and Billing Process - BEWARE

I wanted this to work, which makes the experience that much more frustrating.
My main issue is with the billing and refund process. The cancellation terms are not made clearly upfront, and when I reached out about a refund for sessions I barely used, I was denied and pointed to fine print buried in their Terms of Use. No goodwill, no flexibility, no attempt to meet me halfway.
I’ve since escalated formally (ticket CS-22711) and made clear I’m prepared to dispute the charge with my card issuer and file complaints with the FTC and Maryland Attorney General if this isn’t resolved. I’d rather not go that route — but their customer service has given me no other option.
If you’re considering OurRitual, go in knowing that the 14-day money-back guarantee has conditions that aren’t prominently disclosed, and that getting a refund — even for unused sessions — is an uphill battle. Proceed with caution.

Wonderful Platform

I love the way Our Ritual uses a variety of tools, from educational videos to journaling emotions to meeting with an expert, in order to learn and achieve goals.

Don’t do it

This is coaching marketed as therapy.
It’s not actually cheaper or more effective than therapy.
If you’re comparing prices compare it to a life coach. Hard to connect or feel understood online with such short sessions and not a lot of baseline understanding of who we were.

Getting billing issues addressed was wildly complicated and frustrating.

The videos are decent but it also feels like content you could just get from YouTube and then discuss after. The frameworks make sense. And meeting weekly - my partner and I are in a rhythm of doing that to check in meaningfully which I like.

The cost and how this is marketed do not make sense.

The convenience of the online app and virtual sessions make it easy to integrate into life. Also the emotional check-ins helped us navigate a major conflict in a way that helped us to de-escalate and repair much easier than before therapy. Awful waste of money

Got one appointment and was denied a refund after magically couldn’t reschedule for the times I was initially offered. I purchased this based on flexibility and threw away 300+ dollars for nothing. Reported to the BBB AS AS CAM

Easy to book

App is user friendly. Able to easily book my appointment with my therapist. Saves marriage. Highly recommended

Fake reviews. Scummy practices.

Look them up on Reddit. You’ll find posts over a year old that suddenly have tons of similar glowing responses all within 2-3 days of each other from fake accounts. Every real review is glaringly negative. Incredibly scummy and not at all what you want from a company you’re hoping to help in a stressful time. Also the meetings are 20-30 minutes long. Complete scam and scummy company.

Don’t do the same mistake as I did

They offered me a coupon and said the 14-days money back guarantee. I purchased the subscription, and at the same day realized the app was not for me. I tried to cancel at the same day and I’m still waiting their silence. It seems some kind of scam, not even email they are replying about that. Don’t trust them.

Poor service

I’d never been screamed at by a therapist before, and I won’t again. Avoid, poor quality app and poor screening of therapists.

Bait & Switch

Steer clear of this service. If you try and cancel, they’ll offer a discounted rate. If you still decide to cancel shortly after they’ll tack on additional charges. Save yourself the trouble and just skip it.

Don’t try

We were hopeful this was going to be a good option for us and we could try for 14 days and see if it was a fit. It’s not. The first session was just the counselor telling us how things worked because he technically issues and was late for the 20 min session. So without remembering the fine print, we scheduled a second session to give it the benefit of the doubt and the whole session was a lecture. Nice guy but we didn’t sign up for a lecture service. And even though we are within 14 days we can’t get any kind of refund. Don’t Try.

Scam

Was charged $260 per month, never used their services, and no refund given. Contacted customer support to cancel, was told to go through the app, there is no place in the app to cancel. $1000 from my HSA gone.

Charge for false services

They provided me multiple different therapists and refused to refund me after each one had me do an intro session. They told me they can’t control if a therapist leaves. Completely a scam.

Updated review - they made things right. Terrible Customer Service. Beware of what you sign up for.

Updating this as after an additional email and writing this review the team reached out offered to pause my account and refund me for the months not used. 4 starts only because the app is sometimes glitchy. Signed up for 3 month of sessions. We enjoyed them but did not realize that they continue to charge you after your 3 months is up. Myself and my partner are in the middle of a huge life change so focus was toward other things. I reached out after the 5th month realizing they charged for two additional months explaining that things were too hectic at the moment and for a refund since there was clear evidence that the app wasn’t even opened. The reply I got was that refunds are only for brand new customers. I would have utilized the service again but due to the lack of customer service we will go somewhere else.
Make sure to cancel timely or they will continue to charge you and clearly have no interest in working with current customers - only to grab as much money as possible.

Do not use this service!

TLDR: They will not give you a refund even within the 14 day window and having done a session. They also do not let you choose a counselor, and won’t listen to specific requests!

My partner and I gave this service a shot. First, you have to pay $310 to know who you’ll get as a counselor. Fine, we paid it, thinking we’d be able to get a refund if we did a session and were still within the 14 day window (which they clearly state on the same page you pay on).

We changed our first counselor, as we were looking for someone who was actually a licensed therapist AND specialized in couple’s counseling. We sent in our change request as well as what we were looking for. Our Ritual did not honor the request at all.

It seems like the counselors they have here are doing it as a side project. Which is fine, but not exactly what we were expecting.

Due to the poor service, we decided to cancel our membership. I contacted customer support, just to be told we would not be getting a refund because “payments for recurring subscriptions are nonrefundable”.

It seems like they have that part hidden in their terms of use. Extremely misleading and do not recommend using.

Dean is AWESOME!

My boyfriend and I have been working with Dean and have had a wonderful experience with him. He is very caring, sincerely cares about people, he’s in tune and awake, this bleeds out to both of us and I’m positive to anyone he touches. Highly recommend this program, but in particular Dean as an ally for anyone who needs personal and relational support.

Incredible.

Our therapist Hayley is truly amazing. She has helped my partner and I so much. We haven’t had any trouble with the app at all. We have grown so much as a couple in the few months we have been doing this- I’m honestly so thankful.
