Good concept, bad execution
I just turned 22 years old. After years of trying for a baby, I finally saw a specialist who told me that I couldn’t have any biological kids because my eggs were not good quality. After some time of crying and feeling bad for myself, I started looking for ways to push forward. IVF was recommended to us - using donor eggs. I wanted to use the eggs of somebody that looked like me; same ethnicity and similar features. I came across this app, Ovomatch, that claims to connect you with egg donors that look similar to you. It’s an amazing concept.. too bad the execution was horrid.
For starters, the “race” category includes “Mulatto” and “Gypsy”. Two words that are outdated and bound to cause offense. But what really surprised me was the “skin color” category. You get to pick from “Black, Dark brown, Brown, and White”. That’s it. How inclusive!
The app then wouldn’t allow me to select a center and continued to crash so I have deleted the app. I will continue to look elsewhere.
