Won’t set up
We have a new iPhone and the app just shows an error when trying to connect “This device is not compatible with the application”.

For 300 dollars you wouldn’t think your email would be impossible to receive or impossible to work when you finally find it in your junk file cause apparently my premi child’s health belongs in that section of my email. But the damn email won’t work either. Like 300 dollars dude this needs to be easier have yall lost your mind? Fix your app.

Scam
Owlet is a scam, they’ll yank support of your device just to make you buy a new device.
Unworkable
Has to be the most glitchy app I’ve ever used. Randomly shuts off during the night, sound fluctuates constantly, cameras just stop working for no reason. Could not recommend less.
Just plain garbage
App barely works. Cam has difficulty connecting, this is the only device in the house with connectivity issues. Dont waste hundreds of dollars on 90s tech that doesn’t work properly and only slated to last 9-10 months at max
Good concept Terrible Execution
The system is a good idea and would be awesome if it actually worked. But.. most of the time the camera will never connect to the app or lose signal or if it is connected the footage is behind or froze. Don’t waste your money. Better off with a Vtech 40 dollar cam. It works every time all the time
Unhelpful and frustrating
Prescribed to us and we regret it. Everything from the wrong QR code in the pamphlet that prompts you to download the wrong Owlet app! To the lack of range between sensor amd base station, lack of bluetooth alert capability, poor data recording, and history of readings not being available without a stable cellular or wifi connection….just really really bad.

WiFi Connection Issues
The sock itself is wonderful. This app tells me the sock is disconnected from WiFi every other week even though it is very clearly connected to the WiFi. It is an issue with the app not the sock.
Buggy
The original smart sock app and the dream sock app both functioned far better than this one. I’ve had so many glitches in just two days of use. My base station just deleted itself and there’s no way for me to re-add it through the app, as it is glitching. So now I am stuck without it for the night.

Honestly this app is horrible. Prior to the prescription Owlet, I had the dream sock and that app functions SO much better. I’m shocked that this is prescription, FDA approved, and the app is as terrible as it is. There’s always something wrong with it, like a bug or something. It’s unbelievably slow - takes forever to show me anything. I feel like the dream sock was almost better because as soon as I opened the app, I knew baby’s readings. With this, it takes SO long I rarely check and just depend on it notifying me if something is wrong. Owlet, do better - especially for parents caring for children with health concerns.

Functional but needs work
Caring for two medically compromised babies at the same time, I am grateful to have the option of using the owlet socks instead of the hospital monitors. With that said, the load time for the app is incredibly slow which is painful when you are trying to open an alert. Additionally I would love for the alert notifications to tell me the name of the child that is alarming.

75% of the time I cannot connect to the camera, my internet speed is 250+ mbps and is 2.5

They could do better
Feel like Eufy beat this brand easily. Only this one has FDA approval and insurance covered so sigh… This was hard to pair (eventually it did) and I discovered there’s no way to add two of these to one account. Great job developers thinking of twins or triplets.
Great app, could use more features but works as is
The BabySat is leagues better than any other monitor out there for babies that have respiratory conditions like mine. The app is simple and straightforward as it gets. As a NICU parent who loves numbers I have a few notes on how it could be improved:
-Alarm delays as prescribed: it would be very nice if we could set delays of a few seconds after discussing with a provider so that if baby goes out of range and then self-corrects it will not alarm, just log the dip. The monitors in the NICU did this, and baby's pulmonologist recommended this setting for the monitor he was sent home on (which I don't use since it is clunky and has poor battery), so that it was less likely to have false alarms and deal with alarm fatigue, and a red alarm would be more likely to be serious.
-Alarms stopping when baby pulls back into range. Also a feature similar to NICU monitoring. It's good to not want people to miss alarms but is rough when my baby is kicking up a storm and triggers a false red alarm, or has a quick dip, and I can't get to my phone or the base station to pause it because I'm holding/feeding him and he's on a leash with his oxygen cord. Then it rings off while he sits back at 100% for ten minutes until I can put him down. I would already have gotten a notification so I can review what happened in app. This way if it keeps going off I know there is something I need to correct.
-Sleep tracking features like the Dream Sock: I know this is a medical device but pretty please? The BabySat costs twice as much and uses the same input - it would be kind of ridiculous for me to buy a second sock to put on the other foot for the advanced sleep tracking and notifications but the thought has crossed my mind. I would legit pay a monthly price for this as an add-on if that was necessary because of regulations or something.
-A widget!!! I would love to be able to have my baby's oxygen sats on my home screen so I know how he is doing at a glance and can hop into the app if something is up or I need to look at trends. I'd also love to be able to ask Siri or Alexa what his sats are so I could know how he's doing hands-free (important when you have a baby). I don't have an Echo Show but it'd be cool to be able to just have his sats up on that kind of screen like a traditional monitor. That's the one thing I miss about the hospital issued one.
-Breakdown of percentage of time spent in different ranges: A lot of home oximetry studies go off of these values for deciding what changes to make. Obviously Owlet would not replace this but it would certainly help to know where your baby is at compared to doctor's target values and know whether they are likely to pass a study. The averages are helpful, but I want to know what percentage of a session he has spent below my set range, and maybe even a breakdown for every block of 5% SpO2 and every 20ish BPM if that makes sense?
-Logs for parents of babies on respiratory support at home: a place where I can record what level of oxygen my baby is on during which dates so I can track his averages over the weaning would have been so helpful to understand how the weans were going overall. Like being able to go in and look at my baby's averages in a range of dates where he was on 1L vs 0.5 vs 0.25 and so on to make sure he was compensating overall in the big picture. I'm sure other parents using monitors to wean any kind of support (trach vents even!) could find this useful.
If someone reads this at all I would be so grateful. I'm also happy to answer any questions for anyone. Overall I am so glad this device exists at all and came out during my baby's stay and I tell all my NICU friends about it. These are just a few things that could make it even better and ease that transition to home for parents like me. :)

Can only track 1 child
We have triplets that were in the NICU so I raced to buy the very expensive BabySats. This app only has the option to monitor one child at a time. Parents of multiples are out of luck. Hoping this gets fixed soon!

Camera integration
We bought the owlet cam 2 but there’s no option to add it to this app. We have to use 2 separate owlet apps (one for the sock and one for the camera). Is this feature going to be added?

This app works with zero bells or whistles. What you get is one screen, no customization. No native iPad app.

The device itself works as advertised, with customizable alarm setting (i.e., below x% O2 sets off the alarm). The app is rudimentary given the sophistication of the product. Like putting a Ferrari engine in a VW Beetle- could be so much more!
