Glitching, constant issues

This app causes more trouble than is solves. Constant glitches requiring parental overrides, kids upset because they are locked out during their screentime. Constantly having to adjust bonus time or set to unlimited to allow kids to play, and often these adjustment don’t update due to huge lag or not at all. Extra time given on one day for that day, carries over to the next day, so kids end up with more time than you originally allowed. And there is no password on parental app, so if they know your phone password, they get straight in to the app and “hack” their screentime. Emailed developer months ago with list of issues/suggestions but no reply at all. This app combined with kids frustration is breaking my head. Good idea, poor execution. I’m so done with this. Better to just take the iPads away and have them cry for 5 minutes than deal with the constant nagging of “my screentime doesn’t work”.

Response from developer

Hi, I am really sorry about your experience with our product. I wanted to assure we are taking this feedback seriously. I would like to respond to your challenges in request here: - parent control functions and commands work instantly with max 1 min delay, unless the child's device is not online. Really sorry if you have experienced some glitches here - we would appreciate if you could reach out to our support channel via hi@screentreat.app and we will take a close look at the specific case. Really sorry if we missed the email - I have looked through our support email again and found no such requests in the past. I would really appreciate, if you could reach out again. - bonus time is intended to carry-over if the balance is not consumed the same day. We find it fair for the child to actual get what he/she earned, so the balance can be consumed next day after must-do tasks are completed. Having said that, for some families this is a valid feedback and we will take this into consideration with upcoming releases. Meanwhile our recommendation is to adjust the bonus time manually (negative adjustment possible) in case you feel your child had too much to carry-over. - Optional pin code on parent device. This is great idea and we have implemented this feature with our latest version release, which has been implemented already. I hope you will give one more try with Screentreat as we are constantly upgrading our product features and app performance. Best wishes, Ruta Co-founder @ Screentreat

Love it!

As a mom of two kids, ScreenTreat has been a game changer for our family. What I love most is that my kids have to complete their must-do tasks before their screen time unlocks. It’s helped so much with routines, homework, chores. The app makes parenting a little less stressful and motivates kids in a really smart way. Super easy to use and definitely worth it for busy parents!

Thanks for the great feedback! Really happy to help turn screentime into positive habits

Bad

I can’t get my child stars. It’s so annoying because you gotta do everything twice and whenever I blocked every app in Games, my child still could access all of her games.

Response from developer

Hi Theadora, sorry to hear about the issues. Our latest release now also is showing actual start balance in parent controls. As for accessing the blocked apps while must-do task are not completed or the time has expired - this is definitely not expected behavior. We have looked into it and could not replicate the same issue. If the problem still persist, please reach out to us hi@screentreat.app.

Practical and Easy

We researched several apps to block my child's iPad before completing chores. This is exactly what I was looking for and offers more than I was envisioning. It's relatively simple, can be managed from the parent's device, and works with screen time limits.

You're getting: 1) the ability to block the device (or selected apps) until must-do chores are completed, 2) control over total screen time use per day, 3) control over downtime, 4) the ability to lock down or completely allow the device at any point in time, 5) customization for the kid to earn extra time after completing bonus chores, and 6) great customer service!

I highly recommend this app if you're looking for any or all of this. Of course, you'll need to establish your own expectations and consequences for marking off chores when they haven't been completed, but unfortunately the app doesn't make that choice :)

Well done, ScreenTreat!

I really love the supportive texts under the Screen Time counter, very supportive and gentle!! even when screen time is up!! I especially love that it's supportive of you earning screen time, since you *earned* it, that'll encourage you and make you proud of yourself!! instead of guilting you into using your screen time
