Current version deserved better rating
I was very hesitant to download due to the 1 star rating, but it turned out it’s needed everywhere in Iceland. It’s actually easy to use. I also contacted customer support once and a real human got back promptly and resolved the issue.
Extremely terrible app
Terrible scam app. App is buggy, geolocation never works (works fine with other apps).
Promoted to use for parking in Iceland
This app simply does not work. We spent 5 days and it doesn’t function, suspect their backend servers are nonexistent. We skipped visiting a number of places in and around Reykjavik as well as the southern peninsula because we were not able to pay using this app. Hopefully the Icelandic government can get it sorted as it seems to be the only way to avoid parking fines. Do Not Download.

Fee/Subscription Model is Terrible
89ISK per trasanaction or to get you in a subscription so you hopefully forget about it is a terrible system.

Travelers Beware
Beware of the monthly fee. It’s a prorated fee, it does not pay for a month of usage but rather the remainder of the month. This is both beneficial and malicious in that if you pay on the 29th you’ll be charged again on the 31st. Company refuses to issue refunds.
It needs work!
We have been using the Parka app while in Iceland and it extremely glichy! Even the Parka machines at Geysir were super glichy! They take a couple times to start working, then when you are ready to pay it just sits there, thinking about it. The app is even worse. I can’t tell you many times I had to restart the app to try to get it to work. Unfortunately, it’s the main parking app in Iceland.

Unscrupulous and unnecessary
Almost every tourist site parking lot has a pay kiosk, making the single-time fees much cheaper than signing up for a monthly subscription. Worse, the vendor is unscrupulous. I canceled my subscription at 1:00 AM on the first day of the month after my trip, and customer service refused a refund, insisting on charging me for the entire month. Save your money and just use the kiosks and pay single time fees if you need to use this app.

Tried unsuccessfully to pay parking with this app
I tried unsuccessfully to pay parking with this app, after selecting English as a language, entering license plate and email address. When prompted to enter the credit card’s information, all boxes were labeled only in Icelandic. ApplePay wasn’t enabled either. Ended up paying through the Parka website through Apple Pay.

Scam. Avoid at all costs
Very difficult to use. I selected a parking lot and a time, didn’t press pay or confirm on anything, and it still charged me over 2000 ISK from the card I had saved. Don’t waste your time with this scam.
Doesn’t work
The app doesn’t work. You can’t add licence plates - you just get a http 401 error message. Don’t use it and get EasyPark if you can
Seriously, only one payment method?
Trying to use this app, but it insists on Visa cards only. And no Apple or Android pay. Really lazy implementation.
Easy to use
I recently visited Iceland as a tourist and found the app easy to install, setup, and use. I used the app for parking at Harpa and it worked great.
Useless app
Despite many attempts it was impossible for me to add a payment method to the app. So was unable to use it on my visit to Iceland.

Parka is a fraud and a cheat. Avoid at all cost
I used Parka during my September 2025 trip for a rental car (plate LVG81). Weeks after I left Iceland, my card was charged 6,726 ISK for parking at Traðarkot from 13–15 November when another renter had the car and I was back in Canada. Parka support addresses bounced or went silent, and my bank refused to reverse the charge because the card was stored in the app. This shows a serious flaw for rental‑car users, so I strongly recommend avoiding saving a card in Parka until they fix this and refund affected customers

Useless
Unable to add a payment method despite trying multiple cards, Visa and Mastercard.

Despite claiming to accept Visa it gives an error message every time you try to add a card. Completely useless

Really, really bad app
Location is activated, but it does not propose you any parking around. There is no search by name or parking number which will be easier). No point having this app, period.
Payment frustrations
Like others said, it struggles to accept North America payment methods like mastercard/visa. Better to just pay on location, don’t bother trying to use the app.
