Pause reflects it back, calmly, then lets you in. The typing is the friction. Nothing else. THE TYPING IS THE FRICTION Pause routes the apps you choose — Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, Reddit, anything — through a one-screen reflection step. You type the reason you're opening the app. A calm sentence appears, mirrored from what you wrote. Two seconds later a single Continue button surfaces. You proceed, or you put the phone down. About half the time, the typing makes the impulse visible enough that you don't want to continue. ON DEVICE, NEVER UPLOADED Everything happens on your phone. The reason you typed is generated into the reflection by Apple's on-device Foundation Models. Nothing leaves your device. Pause never asks for an account, never collects analytics, never shows a streak or a points score. There is no "you saved 4 minutes today" — Pause is structurally agnostic about whether you proceeded, because the value is in the typing, not in the outcome.
