Love this App and website…
I really love this app, as well as the entire program overall. If you are looking for other people to speak with in your target language, this is literally the best app I have found to do that.
I honestly was not looking for another resource to learn French. Between my existing tutors, a couple of phone apps, podcasts, and my vocabulary decks, I felt like I was getting enough. But I was curious about the tandem/exchanges, as well as hearing about what other learners were doing to improve their language proficiency.
After seeing a post on Reddit, I thought I would give PBC a try. It turns out, PBC has become one of my favorite resources. What Guillermo and his team are building is more of a community, not just an app. But don’t get me wrong, the app has just about everything… a point system and rewards, private chat, language exchanges that are completely free, classes with real teachers, and weekly events where you can learn about how others are learning, get learning tips, as well as meet new people to set up language exchanges with… Did I mention they are FREE?
I already know that I will be a long-term user of the app, as well as a paid member of the larger PBC Languages community.

Just what I needed
I’ve been using their web version for a while now, and am super excited to see the IOS App version out now. Personally, I don’t feel the need to pay for lessons, but even skipping past that function, the built-in “Free Tandems” that they offer are perfect for my needs and my schedule. There are not always native speakers of my target language available where I live, so having the ability to set up a free chat (1 to 1, or small group of 4) any time I want is perfect for me. I use it almost every day now, as I have challenged myself to commit to more conversations, which I find really help my fluency a lot. Jump in, and I’ll see you online !
