Missing Key Features

As a smart home device, this app is missing one of the most crucial features — integration with other smart home devices and hubs to form an ecosystem. Pella developers, PLEASE integrate with Apple HomeKit. Or at a minimum open the code in the app to enable Siri shortcuts for operating smart blinds. Thank you!

Same or worse

After 4 years the app works intermittently and why the hell the app needs to have the “ defcon 5” security settings to operate blinds is mind boggling. Unfortunately anyone reading this has purchased the Pella product and it’s too late to return it. They really had a game changer here and blew it. Clearly only 3 Canadians purchased the motorized blinds option.

Great app!

The app works great, it takes a little time to set up the first time, but now it makes my life so much easier!

Pella please update your app

The Pella app fails to indicate when door is closed and when door is locked. The bridge chimes for these actions, but they do no show up in the app.

Update in process. Please wait.

I downloaded the Pella Insynctive app on my iPad over a week ago. I created an account, signed in, and as soon as I paired to the bridge, the Home Screen shows “Update in process. Please wait.” It is still showing when I open the app. I contacted customer support and they do not have any tech support. Any assistance would be appreciated!

Terrible App

This app does not support Canadian customers. Cannot set up an account with a Canadian address. It’s been a year now, how hard could it possibly be to fix this???

Useless in Canada

The app doesn’t accommodate Canadian addresses so I can’t even set up an account. The system only integrates with proprietary systems like Control 4 which is ridiculous and extremely limiting. Considering the high cost and quality of the windows I would expect Pella to provide a professional app instead of this amateur effort.

Not maintained

Pella doesn’t care about Insynctive products. It was hard enough to get the sensors from them and now my experience with the app shows more of the same. They haven’t updated it in a long time. The push alerts do not work. And the email alerts hit the quota after a few times opening the door and stops working. Connectivity seems reliable and I’m surprised the app even works in iOS 14 but I don’t expect it to work in the next OS since they obviously don’t put anything into it anymore. Don’t invest in this overpriced and unsupported technology.

Awful made and unmaintained app

App does not support basic schedule events to make shades go up and down at a time. App loses connection to Insynctive bridge frequently. Pella has invested nothing in this app for 3+ years. It’s a reflection on Pella as a company and how they don’t deliver what they promise on their website.

Good Start

Setting up the app is not 100% intuitive. The password requirements for account setup can not be read on an iPhone and there is no feedback that you have entered a password that does not fulfil requirements. With luck I figured it out.

Adding devices is again not 100%. The instructions for adding a device (i.e an Insynctive blind) is clear enough however repetitive and every time you add a device the instructions begin from the point of a new remote, even if you are using the same remote on multiple blinds. Follow the steps and it still seems simple enough. System goes into sync mode and bridge is waiting for device to pair, a tone is heard from the Bridge that it was successful however the app says it was unsuccessful. Close out the sync process and go into “products” on the menu and voila your device did in fact sync.

Scenes and functioning. For moving or performing action on the blinds up or down in the app there is no indication on the “slide bar” as to what is open or closed, trial and error you figure it out. There is no “TILT” option on the app and this may because you could also set up shades which don’t have a tilt option, should be selectable in the future. Next setup i will try is Locks and sensors.

Hope to also see an Alexa or Google Home implementation, will have a real winner then.

Time consuming

Be sure you have a lot of time when you program the window and door sensors. App kept crashing when trying to enroll devices. Horrible, time consuming. Good idea but not good transmission!

Terrible IOS App

Pella has great technology with their solar blinds but their IOS app is terrible. Huge important piece missing on the setup instructions. The app does some things but the remote does others, so you’re forced to use the remote and app.

The “Scenes” do not work and the list of windows all show up as the same name “Blind_Shade” - even tho you named each individual blind. If you select a Scene - it doesn’t even control all the windows. The app does not allow you to tilt the blinds - only the remote does this.

The status and control of each blind is poorly executed. Calling support is a horrible experience. The people answering show zero interest and the background noise sounds like someone’s garage - plus they don’t respond back.

How can you have an app this bad with zero updates in 11 months??? Pella should fire the people who wrote this app and support it. I expected so much more from a good, reputable company but apparently they decided to hire complete amateurs.
