Wifi doesn't work
App connects to maverick 850 AP for setup but then it will never connect to my home wifi network. I've got it set to 2.4g only(although it will output both) and my phone has a strong connection but the app will never find it. Useless.
Doesn’t work
The app worked fine for a while. It’s a little clunky by today’s standards. But it was serviceable to manage the grill during long cooks. Then it just stopped working. To troubleshoot I’ve: deleted the grill from the app and reconnected it; removed and reinstalled the WiFi module on the grill; deleted and reinstalled the grill; and sometimes all of the above in varying orders. Nothing works.

Grill shows connected but no control
The WiFi setup was a pain. My phone would not consistently hold connection to the smoker WiFi. Finally got it connected but none of the temp probes are reading and I cannot control any part of the grill. No temp adjustment , no power on/off. The guide on the website does not offer any guidance for this situation.

The app doesn’t work the manual “that is available through the app” is nonexistent it opens up to 13 blank pages. I thought maybe I just need to update, says I’m up to date so I must have the latest 13 blank page manual.
Smoker is amazing, Wi-Fi doesn’t work.
Update: they pushed an update that completely resolved the connection issue I was having! It’s still pretty basic, but it’s working again and so adjusting the rating.
Unreliable and unusable
I can't change the temperature. It doesn't give me a reliable reading on the grills set point (it always thinks it's at 225 when it's not). It thinks it's turned on when it's not. It doesn't turn off when I use the app to turn it off. This app needs to be completely remade.

It’s a bad app but the larger issue is that the wifi just doesn’t work. Tons of troubleshooting, swapping, and trying all sorts of things. I’d suggest not buying or using the WiFi and get a Thermapen product with the combo of wifi/rf/whatever you want. The core smoker I could not be happier with so will make it work!

Save the money and don't buy Wi-Fi
I got a maverick 1250 and love it. Got a lot of the add ones including the Wi-Fi module. This piece of garbage doesn't send you alerts for high temp, low temp, goal temp, power off, or low pellets. Really doesn't offer much in the way of hands free. Tragers Wi-Fi features a superior. But still would get a maverick.

Deleted all my receipts after update
Be careful after the app update all your recipes may be deleted just like mine. I was going to cook pulled pork and use my saved recipe. Well all 50 recipes I had saved were deleted.

App fails to connect to wifi Access point
I just purchased the maverick 850 and I am excited to use it. I have followed setup closely and I am repeatedly hit with unable to connect to the access point error. The set up address can be found and sometimes joined but doesn’t stick. This has failed so far. My wifi is strong and I am in the city. Please complete work on this app so that I can enjoy the wifi capabilities.

App quality doesn’t match smoker
Really disappointed the app quality doesn’t match the pellet grill quality. The “alert at” temp for the meat probe doesn’t actually alert you - it just throttles the smoker temp.

The very best smoker on the planet has the worst wifi app. This used to work and it no longer does. Love the smoker; hate the app.
Doesn’t show up on WiFi
The app used to work for me and they decided to update it and I can’t get it to work. Wasted 300$ on WiFi module that doesn’t connect. For a 3000$ grill I’m highly disappointed.
