What's New in Pocket Casts

September 28, 2026

Podcast networks have arrived. There’s a new Networks section in the Discover tab for finding networks, and tapping the author on a podcast’s page takes you to the network behind it, so you can find more shows from people you already enjoy. Search includes networks now too. We also did quite a bit of tidying up. Turning off New Episode notifications now actually turns them off (revolutionary, we know). The video player got some love, with larger controls and a Chromecast button that no longer hides in full screen. And if playback fails because your phone is out of storage, we now say so instead of blaming your internet.

Ads mid sentence

There are obvious pauses in podcasts for ads to be inserted yet on this app, the ads are played mid sentence, so annoying

Great podcast app

Have been using this app for years and love it. Great UI, love that I can start a podcast on a walk and finish it in the car and even if I’m different devices, it syncs automatically to pick up right where you left off. I highly recommend it.

Randomly Archives Episodes

Occasionally, tons of episodes from various series I’m subscribed to will get archived (while still marked as unplayed). I feel like this has something to do with the shows updating their RSS feeds. It’s really annoying that Pocket Casts hasn’t figured out a way to deal with show updates that doesn’t mess with episode status on the user’s side.
