Learning to read Thai is the first and most important step to learning Thai. Give yourself a month with this app and you will be able to read and pronounce the vocabulary that you need to learn to speak Thai. This app teaches the Thai script very effectively-with mnemonics, bite size lessons and sound files. One month and you will be reading-and pronouncing Thai words that cannot be represented by romanization. A perfect place to begin your Thai journey!

Really good for complete beginners
I recommended playing every quiz until you can instantly answer each question confidently.
Also the app has built in breaks for history and culture lessons that are really interesting

The (brilliant) author of this masterful little piece of software has told me he's no longer updating it, which may mean it will at some point disappear from the App Store. Believe me (and all the other reviewers): if you want to Learn Thai, you want this on your phone, so get it now before it's gone.
I have used many different iPhone apps to study Thai, and some of them are helpful, but none I have found – including those that continue to be updated regularly – can compare to this app for efficacy. If you apply yourself, use your brain to meet this app halfway, you will learn Thai, and – if your experience is like mine and that of many other people – you'll learn it much quicker than you will using even the most up-to-date and polished of iPhone apps.
This app has a few minor bugs, such as that the audio doesn't play every single time you tap (that's what I contacted the developer about), but none I have yet encountered are showstoppers of any kind and the progress I make with this app puts all others to shame.
Seriously: get it before it's gone! 🇹🇭

The audio is a clear winner
UPDATE JUNE26: I’ve returned because the way that the course is laid out is just enough to give you confidence to move on. This is all you need. It’s very clear and enjoyable.
The clarity of the audio and pronunciation in any language app becomes the critical factor in success. And for this reason it’s gets 5 Stars.
But you can also feel the care and love that the author has put into every stage. He reveals just enough so it stays an enjoyable challenge. The quizzes are confirmation of this. Well done.

I have been using other apps learning a lot however this app fills in all the missing blanks and offers invaluable instruction on aspects the other apps don’t touch. Great tool in the Thai language learning toolkit. Highly recommend

Only actual helpful free app to learn the Thai script
I love this app, it actually helped me learn Thai and it’s available offline so I don’t have any excuse on not having WiFi or something. After school I just go on the app and do one lesson. All you need to do to learn the alphabet is to write the consonants/vowels down on paper while saying the pronunciation and then try to understand the rules. It doesn’t just shove a million rules in your face at once and it actually helped me understand it. Only thing is that I wish there were more quizzes so I could practice more. Other than that it’s so good!

I have been studying for 2 days and i already can say that this app is beyond my expectations. Thank you so much for doing this: free, no adds and great quality. I am a native Spanish speaker that lives in London and love languages. I have been watching Thai series for a few weeks and I am planning to go on holidays to Thailand in 2 months and this app has been very useful and easy to follow, in addition of the explanations that encourage you all the time and reminds you that it’s ok to be confused, or feeling that it’s too much, but that it will get better.

This app has been phenomenal for learning to read and pronunciation! It breaks down the lessons into short digestible chapters and allows you to practice and repeat the quizzes easily for repetition. So grateful to have this as a resource!

I started using this as a compliment to my group Thai classes I am taking in Thailand. It has basically taught me everything I needed to know about reading Thai. This by far the best material I’ve found. And trust me I have looked!! The content is free, however I paid for it because I was so THANKFUL!!
