App updated and is now much better
I’m updating my review to address the changes they have made. The app is much more functional and no longer crashes or requires me to login regularly. Information is much more clearly displayed as well. Glad to see changes made.

Wow, the latest update has completely changed my experience with the app. It’s so much smoother and easier to use now. No more endless loading or crashing when I’m trying to start a charge. Everything from the layout to the speed is better.

This app is a barely functional MESS and pricing is a complete rip off
I downloaded this app because it is necessary in order to use the car chargers at SDG&E. I’ll just list the issues:
-app barely works on startup. The map will be blank as will your charge sessions and vehicle info tabs
-crashes if you move around in the tabs too quickly -won’t load in my car. I currently cannot use the chargers at all because the app won’t load in my car even though the website shows it. Not sure how to fix that yet. UPDATE: manually close the app and reopen over and over until it decides to load your car. Perfect!
-can’t submit a bug report in the app because the “submit” button is bugged and you cannot press it…LMAO
-dark mode refuses to save in preferences
-app requires you to login when you attempt to start a charge session even though you are logged in already. Then it bounces you back to “start a charge session”, but the session already started so it tells you the station is unavailable. Just, wow, programming is hard
-Can’t view pricing for anything but the current hour in the app. You can view pricing for the current 24 hour block on the pyd sempra site at work, but you can’t view the next day until 5pm. So be at work past 5 if you want to see the next 24 hour block. You love to work anyway right? Even though half of us are on a rotating schedule already so we aren’t there at the right time. Why not have at minimum a WEEKLY schedule available online and in the app???
-Pricing: the site says people pay an average of 19 cents per kwh…no. The pricing is all over the place and reaches as high as $1.35/kh…pretty much 2X as expensive as gas. And you think, well, I’ll just avoid the peak hours and it will be cheaper right? Nope. It’s 6am and the price is $1.34 right now. Or maybe you saw that on Friday at 6am it was 25 cents per kwh so you plan to charge next week at that time again? Joke’s on you, the price changes daily so next friday it could cost 5 times more for the exact same time block. No idea why I expected anything better from sdge on pricing, even for it’s own employees lol
Hopefully the underpaid intern working on this app by themself can use this review to get another 10 dollars of funding to iron out the bugs. Or you know, just use CHARGEPOINT chargers because they actually work just fine and the app isn’t completely worthless.
