Pretty lame
There is very little documentation on how to use this. I felt it was false advertising when I understood that this fireplace would be able to be controlled remotely. It really is no better than the manual controller that comes with the Mendota fireplace. I was looking for something that would turn the fireplace off when I went to bed at night time. Or be able to turn it on in the morning before I get up. This will not do it. It is even very unclear when I change it from manual to smart if it’s actually been changed and when trying to adjust the just a slight movement of the finger changes it by five or 10°. This app is close to worthless, but I guess you get what you pay for. I am really disappointed in Mendota as advertising their fire place is wi-Fi enabled
The only convenience is provides is all I can control the fireplace from my phone to turn it on or off The remote. It comes with needs to be beside the fireplace if you’re going to use the smart temperature control sitting on the phone. The phone does not have a temperature sensor nor will it connect to any of the temperature sensors that are part of HomeKit. I would be willing to pay for a good controller.

Drops connection
Used to work. Doesn’t anymore
Old App Worked….
Old app was more reliable. This one crashes or requires reloading to turn on or off. It’s also insane to me the old app could open directly on your fireplace controls, and this new app makes you work through two menus first. Can’t understand how a company can miss this badly on an update.
Trash
Not worth it. Wont sign in / connect
App works on local network but not over the cloud with virtual assistant
App works on local network but not over the cloud with virtual assistant. Looked everywhere for troubleshooting help but there’s very little on the subject. Updates seem to be nonexistent. I do see that the fireplace has showed up in my device list in the Alexa app days later after I linked and enabled it. But, the options don’t seem to work both with voice commands or toggling buttons on Alexa. I hope the developers update.
