User reviews

Good app in theory..

As a Harry Potter fan, I’m kind of disappointed. The app still shows my husband at home even when I know he’s at work. It doesn’t allow me to actually see where he is and I don’t know if it’s because he has an android and I have iPhone or not. It doesn’t really do a whole lot of tracking. Disappointing.

Horrible

It may work in a computer but in mobile it’s the worst! First it could not find my address, then when I told it where I lived it could not scroll down so I could save it. I just started but I’m sure the rest gets worse. Sad, it looked cool. Needed more development before launch!!!

Response from developer

Thank you so much for writing this, and I'm really sorry your first try went like that. Your feedback helped us big time, and we've already got a fix coming out next week. If you'd like to give it another go, please drop us a line through Support in the app. We'd love to make it up to you.

Eh

Cute but just doesn’t function well. Isn’t super accurate on location. To be a paid subscription should have a fully functional map with locations labeled. I shouldn’t have to label Taco Bell. My free life app does more and has a much more functional map.

Response from developer

Thanks for "cute", we wanted checking on your people to feel warm, not like surveillance. On the map: we've just added new icons for your places, but for now you do have to label them yourself. Thank you for telling us that basic places should simply show up on their own — that's genuinely useful to know. On accuracy: it depends a lot on the phone being tracked. Location needs to be set to "Always" with Precise Location turned on. We're also working on making location more accurate on our side. As for free apps doing more: free apps have to make money somehow. We'd rather charge one small subscription — for your whole group — than ever sell where your family goes. Give us another look sometime?

disappointed

I think it’s ludicrous that you have to pay to add more than one person when apps like life360 don’t require that. I was looking forward to this app because I’m a harry potter fan, but I was unable to enjoy it with my friend group for reasons previously stated. In this economy I feel like it’s a little entitled to ask for an up charge to include multiple people in your group.

Response from developer

Thanks for writing this — we'd much rather hear it than not. One thing that's easy to miss: a single subscription covers your whole group, so only one person pays. For a few friends sharing it, that's very little each. As for why it's paid at all: we don't sell anyone's data, so the subscription is what keeps Protego running. If it still doesn't work for you, drop us a line through Support in the app — let's see what we can do.

Tracker

This app is kinda like Life360 but in Harry Potter form. I downloaded it and got all my friends in on it. This app is really really cool

Response from developer

Thank you — this one made the whole team smile. Getting your entire crew on board is exactly what Protego was built for, and honestly, you did half our job for us. Have a magical time out there — and if you ever wish for something new, our in-app support is always open. ✨
