Too power-hungry

Well, I’ve given Quip many chances, but I’m finally deleting it as of today. Improvements have been made along the way, but it still wastes too much screen space (a small clip takes up a lot of space in the drop-down), and most important of all, Quip is killing my machine’s performance, consistently using about 25% of my CPU.

In the two weeks since my machine booted, my other clipboard manager has used 8 minutes of CPU time, while Quip has used over 64 hours! And since I find my other clipboard manager much easier and quicker to use, I am jettisoning Quip. Sorry.

Crashes everyday

It crashes multiple times on a daily basis. Cancelling subscription.

great idea, tons of bugs

app consistently crashes, collections don’t actually seem to work (bugs).

Was hoping to migrate from Paste to Quip but it’s not ready for primetime

Response from developer

Hi there, I would love to help solve these crashes if you can please reach out to support

Does not Copy everything?

Recently Upgraded to Tahoe and my old and trusty Clipboard manager stopped working - ClipMenu. I tried Quip and I love the UI, but it is a bit sluggish.
However my biggest issue is that it does not consistently copy everything. I copied a portion of code from VS code then went back and did cmd+A to copy all text from that file It does not recognize this is a new copy. Do not have time to troubleshoot

Hi there, Quip has optional settings to filter items it thinks you might not want. You can turn these off in settings -> but in this case it's likely it assumed you did not want it with these features enabled. We'll continue to improve the experience.

Not ready for prime time

First thing I tried to copy was a non-standard link in Chrome using the context menu. Fails repeatedly and never copies the link to the app, though it IS in the clipboard. Try another way and paste the text into a text file and copy as text, still won’t work.

It looks like it’s making judgment calls about what it will or will not track, without letting ME choose.

Thus, it’s utterly useless right out of the gate for me.

Hi there, Quip has optional intelligence features that were likely filtering the items. I would love to help you figure out the best options for your use if you reach out to support

Now it is great!

They added the bulk delete feature which makes this a great solution for copy and paste. Works great the this developer is excellent at responding to suggestions.

I like the Liquid Glass, but it needs some tweaks.

In Mission Control there is a quip window, but obviously no window. The word quick just shouldn’t be there to be honest.

One word

Greed

Not great, has a big problem

Okay, but has a big problem. You can’t delete multiple items. That means that everything you copy stays in the app unless you delete each item one at a time. For me, I copy and paste a lot of items that I don’t need. I am forced to delete them one at a time as opposed to selecting multiple items, and if I wait too long it takes forever to get rid of them. Going to go back to Paste which fits my workflow much better. I really like this developer but this app is useless for me because of this issue.

Hi there - we’ve added bulk edit mode in the latest release.

Doesn’t Work on Input Fields & Dropdowns

I wanted to like this app. I really did. I even signed up for the free trial and would have happily paid the annual subscription at the end. BUT, the app does NOT work on input fields on Web pages nor on dropdown fields - like tracking numbers in emails that link to tracking information. Simple text from both of these copy to the system clipboard, but fail to show in Quip’s clipboard history. I tested it several times.

I am a voice over user

From what I can tell, this app is accessible, but it’s not very usable with that accessibility. It also still seems a little rough around some edges. When wanting to add an item to a collection, I could not, and it would not let me create one to add it to on that screen. I had to back out and go to the collection tab first. Just seems unpolished. My issue with the accessibility is the lack of navigational support. The main screen with your clippings has no headings or articles or containers to help in navigating through what would eventually become I assume very long lists of items. And each one of those items has five or six elements to swipe through. If you want to read the third clipping, you’ll need to swipe right at least 15 times just to get to the top of it.

Quip fills the Clipboard Management gap

I have both an iPhone (15 Pro Max) and a Mac (iMac 2024). Early on, I found that I could not use a common clipboard manager for both. On the Mac, I needed to manipulate multiple clips at one and for that, Alfred was the best choice for its clipboard manager. To pass data to the iPhone’s clipboard, I used either Copy ‘Em or Copied as a secondary clipboard manager. On the iPhone, I used either Copy ‘Em or Copied as the primary clipboard manager. While I still use Alfred on the Mac, Quip has taken the place of Copy ‘Em or Copied as the primary clipboard manager on the iPhone while being used, as needed, on my Mac. Quip is a valuable addition to my clipboard management setup.

Great Promise

Have only been using Quip for a few days, but it’s checking all the boxes so far. Even had a simple support question and the developer answered immediately. Looking forward to kicking all the tires.

Versatile Clipboard Manager

Quip is a capable and versatile clipboard manager. It lets you keep track of items you copy and paste, so you can reuse them as desired, on one device or shared among many.

The app provides granular control over how and where clippings get shared. You can also create saved collections to organize your clippings. For instance, create a work collection to save the company taglines and blurbs for regular pasting in various documents.

The Quip app lets you take control of your clipboard.

Slick

This app works like a charm. Much better than other iPhone clipboard managers I’ve tried.

Thank you for the kind review!

A game changer

It's a game changer for me. I replaced Paste with this app.

Response from developer

That means a lot - thank you! Please reach out if you need any support.

Not Vision Pro keyboard compatible

The iPad OS version is downloadable on the Vision Pro as an iPad app, but it is incompatible with the Vision Pro.

I’ll continue testing with Mac, iPad, and iPhone, but one clipboard needs to be one clipboard, IMO.

Response from developer

Hi Jim, Thanks for pointing that out - indeed we did not build Quip for Vision Pro yet and had not intentionally made it available for Vision. It is not now longer available until we have time to properly support it.
