Quotes you can trust. All 1,533 quotes in QuotesVault are traced to the book, letter or speech they come from, with the translator named for every translation, and the famous lines people get wrong are set straight.
QuotesVault is a library of quotes from 66 writers, thinkers and leaders, with room for the ones you collect yourself. The free library holds 439 quotes, and the rest come in fourteen quote packs.
Ready for iPhone Duo
Closed, the whole app works on the outer display at every text size. Open it out in landscape and your collections sit in a sidebar beside the quote. If you fold or unfold while adding a quote from your list, every word stays on the page.
Your library, as books
Every collection is a book on your shelf. Packs are hardbacks in their own colours, and your own collections are notebooks in the colour and mark you choose.
A library you can trust
Every quote has been checked against its source, and the three known only in paraphrase are marked. Explain Quote tells you what a quote means, when and why it was written, and, for more than 700 of them, shows the original in its own language, from Greek and Latin to Persian, Sanskrit and Russian. A link takes you to the full text so you can read the passage in context.
Misattributed
Many of the most shared quotes are credited to the wrong person. The Misattributed section in Authors holds 422 of them, each with the story of where it really comes from. When you add a quote that is one of them, QuotesVault tells you quietly and, where the real author is known, offers to credit them.
Share a quote as a page
Share any quote as a card in the colours of your library, on a printed plate or on a photo of your own, sized for a post, a story or a wallpaper made for your screen, with its source on the card. Stories go straight to Instagram. Copy any quote with its full reference, or export the ones you added, with your reflections, as Markdown, CSV or plain text.
Browse by theme and author
Find quotes under 39 themes, such as courage and grief. Author pages give dates, key works and, for writers whose work is now public, where to read them free.
Daily inspiration
Start each day with a Quote of the Day, mark your favourites, and let a gentle notification bring you a new one each morning.
Make it yours
Make notebooks of your own, add your own quotes and categories, write reflections, and import highlights from Kindle or scan a page with your camera. Add an author by name and QuotesVault finds them on Wikipedia.
Zen mode
Read one quote at a time, full screen, with ambient sounds such as rain and a crackling fire.
