Better Business should check out Reader’s Digest
I started my digital subscriptions through Amazon and got a while everything was fine until the month before I had to renew. Then suddenly I could not access the magazines I had bought. I tried to deal with the publishers but hit a brick wall. I like the magazine so I thought if I bought my subscription through Apple instead of Amazon it might solve my problem. It did not!
I bought my latest subscription in September of 2025 with a renewal scheduled for mid September, 2026. Unfortunately in August of 2026 my app will not access anything at all. I have talked to Apple who worked with me to try and access my magazines but could not. I have sent all the information available from Apple to Reader’s Digest to get their help but all they look at is the cancellation of my subscription renewal with Amazon in 2025 and not my new subscription through Apple in September of 2025. I guess I will have to give up on reading a magazine that I had enjoyed for over 50 years. Apple at least generously has refunded the original purchase price they took 11 months ago.

Print edition valued
I treasure my print editions as I can take them anywhere to read them. Even to the beach! I can highlight parts I like, or tear out pages to keep & share. If it’s intact, I donate it to my library so someone else can enjoy it & hopefully get their own subscription.
I’ve read Reader’s Digest since 1963, when I was 12. The jokes were my favorite & the real stories taught me valuable lessons. I might not like the app, but I will continue to subscribe to the print version as long as I live.
