About

Recast does two jobs, and does them properly — on your device, with nothing uploaded. CONVERT Change images, video, audio, PDFs, GIFs and Live Photos between formats using Apple's own media frameworks. JPEG, PNG, HEIC, MP4, and more — orientation baked into the pixels so nothing arrives sideways, and a dedicated Live Photos picker that exports the still, the video, or both. COMPRESS Pick a target — under 10 MB for Discord, 16 MB for WhatsApp, 25 MB for email, or any size you type — and Recast shrinks a photo, video, PDF, GIF or audio file to hit it. Anything else, or a whole batch at once, becomes one tidy, smaller ZIP. HONEST BY DESIGN If it can't reach your target while keeping the result usable, it says so instead of quietly handing you something broken. "Force it smaller" is a separate, deliberate button. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Everything happens on your device. No upload, no account, no tracking, no subscription. The App Store privacy label reads "Data Not Collected" because that's exactly what the app collects — nothing. Two tools, one app: convert anything, or shrink it to the size you need. Pay once and it's yours.

What's New in Recast

1.1

August 24, 2026

Recast now compresses, too. • New Compress tab: shrink photos, videos, PDFs, GIFs and audio to a target size — under 10 MB for Discord, 25 MB for email, or any size you choose. • Zip any file, or a whole batch, into one smaller archive. • Everything still runs entirely on your device — nothing uploaded, no account, no subscription. • Fixed the in-app feedback button so it reliably opens your mail app.
