Inaccurate OCR

Tested this today several times on a typical Publix receipt. OCR missed various lines, incorrectly transcribed numbers, and frequently attributed incorrect price/item pairs. Usually around 25% error, which apparently syncs to YNAB as “rounding”. Good idea, but seems like it’s not ready for showtime yet.

Thanks for giving this such a thorough test, that kind of detail genuinely helps. Receipt layouts vary a lot from store to store, and I want to get yours working properly. If you're open to it, email me a couple of the receipts you tried at receiptsforynab.app@gmail.com and I'll dig into exactly what went wrong and follow up once it's improved. Really appreciate you taking the time.

Needed Some Help

Just downloaded this app to attach scans of my receipts in ynab. Scanning part work very well & it is entered the transaction but I want to attach the scan to an older transaction. There are no instructions on how to use this app in the app. Seems like it might be good but I since I cannot find any instructions or faq or way to contact the company with my questions, its useless to me.

Hi Sandib888, thank you for the review! You're right that the app needs a help section. I'm adding one in an upcoming update. In the meantime, you can reach me directly through Settings → About → Contact Support. I read and reply to every message. Today, YNAB doesn't support attaching images to transactions, so the app is built to do more: it scans your receipt, automatically reads every line item and price, categorizes each one, and syncs it to YNAB as a split transaction. No manual entry needed. When YNAB adds attachment support, I'm committed to integrating it. I'd love to help you get the most out of the app. Feel free to reach out anytime.
