This is one of the best apps I’ve found for controlling my Fire TV . It’s extremely simple and quick to setup and you can use it for free for most of the basic stuff; like the same thing you would use your remote control for. It’s convenient for those times when you accidentally misplaced your remote control or you just realized that your batteries are dead. It’s definitely one of the best app options I’ve found and I have tried a few, but try it out , see if it’s a fit, it can’t hurt and if anyone has found a better option. Please lmk in the comments section. I’d be happy to try your suggestions and picks out too!

No good directions with alternate way to get IP address if you don’t have the remote so that way you
If you don’t have the IP address, you can’t connect the remote and if you lost your remote, you won’t be able to get into the fire stick in order to get the IP address to connect the remote you will have to get into the settings
