About

Retire Slider answers one question: will the money last? Move a slider, watch the answer change. Every figure is in today's dollars, so what you see is what it buys. TWO WAYS IN Quick gives you five inputs, a 30-year projection, and a rough picture in under a minute. Complete gives you a full age-aware plan: per-spouse mortality, Social Security phase-in, Medicare and IRMAA, RMDs from 73, withdrawals sequenced across 401(k)/IRA, Roth, investment and property accounts, a widow-tax transition, liabilities, per-account real returns, and estate and heir taxes at the end of the horizon. GUARDRAILS, NOT A FIXED NUMBER Most plans assume you spend the same amount whatever happens. Real retirees adjust. Retire Slider runs both and shows you the gap: a dynamic guardrail policy that trims spending when your withdrawal rate drifts above plan and restores it when markets recover, against never adjusting at all. Seeing the two side by side is often the difference between "I can't retire" and "I can, if I stay flexible." THE TAX PART IS REAL There is no "enter your tax rate" slider. Federal and state tax is re-solved from scratch every simulated year, from that year's own income and withdrawals: tax-year-2026 brackets, the standard deduction, the senior bonus, capital-gains bands, the taxation of Social Security under IRC section 86, the net investment income tax, Medicare surcharges, and all 50 states plus DC. WHAT YOU GET Every projection runs 2,500 simulated market paths, and the sampling error is printed next to every success rate so you can see how precise the number actually is. Results come from one reconciled median path, so the summary tiles, the legacy rows and the year-by-year table all agree with each other. Legacy to heirs is reported after estate tax and income tax on inherited IRAs. You can export a PDF report with a year-by-year table, and export or import every input as JSON. Plain-English explanations sit on every input and output, with live arithmetic. PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION No account. No sign-up. No analytics. No ads. The app makes no network requests of any kind. Everything is bundled and everything runs on your device. Your inputs stay in on-device storage, and you can erase them or switch saving off entirely from the menu. CHECKED, NOT ASSERTED Returns are calibrated to 1928-2025 US market history and cross-checked against the Trinity study and Bengen's SAFEMAX. The tax arithmetic is checked against NBER TAXSIM, an implementation maintained by the National Bureau of Economic Research and used in published research for decades. The constants come from the published IRS, CMS and SSA tables. A Validation panel inside the app shows what is checked and how. Estimates only, not financial or tax advice. Projections are hypothetical model output generated from the figures you enter, not a prediction or guarantee of your actual results. Simulated and past performance does not guarantee future results. Tax figures apply US federal and state law as enacted for tax year 2026 and do not account for later changes. Consult a qualified financial, tax or legal professional before acting on anything you see here.
