This company puts out the most insightful and well presented travel guides I’ve yet seen, and I’ve seen a bunch. There’s a user friendly authenticity to their stuff that makes traveling so much more enjoyable.
Excellent Drive tours
We bought the Kauai and Big Island drive tours and the content was helpful, entertaining and educational. The content turns on based on the gps signals. The advice on the lookouts in Kauai was spot on. The technology truly functioned as if we hired an actual local guide riding in the car with us. Customer service was very responsive. Highly highly recommend the drive tours even if it’s an additional cost. The value we derived was worth it.

Not at all happy
Don’t expect much and you won’t be disappointed. I used their print version for years and really enjoyed them. The app is terrible- It is awkward to navigate, focuses on a lot of retail. The app fails to recognize that I have paid for the “upgraded” edition and so won’t let me access any of the truly useful information. Really poor and disappointing execution of this app when compared with their books. No way to contact customer service- ? Maybe customer service isn’t of any interest to them?

Got this audio and book guide for my 5th trip to Kauai and it taught me so many new things and sights! Amazing app - worth it!

Excellent guide
We used this extensively on our Kauai trip and found it to be entertaining and informative. He points out things that are definitely worth the stop and advises you when they are not. We loved it.
Glitchy
Makes me sign in with my Apple ID almost every time I open the app. The app sometimes doesn’t pause my music and just starts talking over the music so you can’t hear what he’s talking about. When I was in poor service areas, the app didn’t function. I used this app on a trip to Kauai 4 years ago and it seemed to function much better.

Worth Every Penny
My family went to the Big Island, Maui, and Kauai and we downloaded the driving tours for each island. We had a grandparent, middle age adults, teenager, and 9/10 year olds and we ALL loved the fascinating history, facts and the personal experiences Andrew shares. We laughed out loud many times and it gave us so much to discuss. It enhanced our travels and enjoyment SO much and I can’t wait to try his driving tours for other locations.

It’s both informative and entertaining, packed with fascinating information—from historical tidbits to some less-than-pleasant family stories (like inbreeding) and even tales of Kamehameha’s incredible strength (think Hercules!). It describes the island’s descendants and notable figures.

Must get for Big Island travel!!
We had such a great experience using the Revealed app! Andrew made everything come alive with fun facts, interesting spots we never would’ve found on our own, and a perfect mix of engaging conversation and humor. It honestly felt like having a knowledgeable (and funny) local guide with us the whole time.
Our whole family loved it—kids and adults alike—and it added so much to our trip. We’d absolutely recommend this app to anyone looking to explore in a more fun and meaningful way!

The guide is great but…
I love the content of the guide, but I find it so annoying that I have to log in to my account every time I use it. Why can’t it remember me? I even downloaded all the content, but it still asks me to log in every time. I’m afraid I won’t be able to access the guide if I don’t have data.
Upgrade not working
I purchased the upgrade which is a monthly charge. Because I didn’t want it to renew on April 19, I cancelled the subscription. Apple says the subscription will cancel on April 19. None of the upgrades are working.
Disappointed
Book is worthwhile but in some instances outdated. Revealed App is is much less useful since for many of the reviews you have to upgrade to the “premium” level at significant cost.
Costs keep coming
This could be helpful but beware the continued costs. Cost for premium content but you can at least pull up the points of interests and search them elsewhere. The driving tour is also a separate charge. For planning a single trip, things like subscription really seem like a mismatch between the app and the audience.

Mandatory Travel Guide!
This is the second time I’ve used Revealed with almost 20 years in between visits, it’s absolutely incredible! I used the book the 1st time and then now used the app for the Big Island and Kauai, game changer! I was so impressed before with the details and insight from the books, but what Andrew and his team had done with technology using the app and GPS tour guide is unparalleled. I had already given two different families the heads up about the books in the past and they thanked me for the advice. But now using the app to save Favorites, Maps, and built in tour guide gives you everything you need! It’s worth every penny and then some. Thank you for making our trip a million times better!

Preferable to the Alternatives
Having the travel guide in the same app as the driving guide is fantastic, sometimes the driving narration cuts out but this is a common experience with this type of application. Having a local’s take on the surroundings is great.
2026 Big Island trip
We’ve used this guide & tour for both Kauai & the Big Island. Very helpful. We would have been hesitant & unsure to stop at some places without the help of this app (for example: Mauna Kea beach with the guarded gate at top). Recommendations are great! We found the history very interesting especially on some of the longer drives on the Big Island. Good job figuring out the navigational secrets of the early Polynesian settlers!

Best Guide for Years
I first used Revealed Hawai’i 20 years ago as my guidebook. When I planned a trip back to Hawaii and Maui this year the first thing I did was get these travel guides. I have given them as wedding gifts to friends going to Hawaii on their honeymoon.
This year I used the accommodations, reviews and found an absolutely perfect 2 BR/2BA condo on Maui for less than a hotel I was looking at. Perfect place to stay. We chose our restaurants, drives and activities based on the recommendations and were so happy with each.
They know all of Hawaii and share the great, the good and what to avoid. You can’t go wrong with their content.!
