Wouldn’t have done the Road to Hāna any other way
We couldn’t have done the Hāna highway without this guide! We learned so much by stopping where the app recommended and listening to the fun facts on the way back out. Our phones were without service from the beginning of the journey & we had no issues with finding cool stops/food on the way using Shaka (be sure to bring a charger with you!)

My Personal guide
Seems, someone is seated next to you and explain everything you need routes/places/history/etc. There is no need for pre planning. Recently I bought Yellowstone &Teton pack and in two days we have covered most of the places.

Continuous/Dangerous Technical Issues
We used the Shaka Tour guide for two different tours around the island of Oahu. We used the Shaka Guide on two different iPhone 16 Max Pros paired with a USB cable to a late model Nissan Pathfinder. On two subsequent days.
We experiences continuous issues with audio switching from the car audio system to the iPhone when changing from story telling to lovely local music. We also gps issues location, despite having the phone on the dash in full view of satellites, requiring us to back track, pull over, restart the guide and use Apple Maps to get us back on track to the point that after realizing we had missed a long section of several (10+) narration spots along a section of the route.
Finally, to save our sanity and marriage we gave up on the Shaka guide and came back to Honolulu and enjoyed the Bishop Museum.
I attempted to contact in-app support, but was left hanging for a long time after two obvious bot responses apparently wanting to confirm I was a paying customer rather help me resolve the repeated issues we were having.
When it was working it’s an amazing 4+ star guide. The stories were great. The local music filled the dead space.
Unfortunately, I can NOT recommend this app to anyone looking for an stress-free, leisurely, guided tour.

Such A Great Experience!
This was such an inexpensive, VERY informative and great tour we have taken at our own pace! Loved every bit of it! You can pause it, play it at any time and will adjust to your location. Love the history, stories and music provided, packing list, which places charge an entry fee and how much…they do it all for you in just one app! And you keep it forever!
