Absolutely worth it!
I bought the Shaka Guide pretty much at the last minute and was able to download them quickly. I bought a pack of three and we used all three on Maui. Our entire family loved the tours, the music and everything that goes with it. Absolutely the most amazing thing to do for yourself. Very affordable and 100% necessary. Downloading them while we were at our hotel was genius and if we ever go back, we’ll use this again. Very highly recommended and much respect to the creators and contributors! 🌺🌈🌸 Mahalo & Aloha!

Honestly, we would’ve been lost on the road to Hana without the Shaka Guide app. We actually listened to the audio during the trip home and learned a ton about Hawaii. This is a must download app if you’re thinking about doing the road to Hana, or any other trip for that matter.

We’ve used the Shaka Guide (Maui Road to Hana) and the Rocky Mountain National Park one, and they never disappoint. Now that we’ve done the Yellowstone National Park tour with our family of four, we’re even more impressed.
What we love most are the stories—they’re engaging, informative, and keep everyone interested (including the kids). The directions are excellent: clear, timely, and practical. We especially appreciated the guidance for every stop plus the helpful tips on bathrooms. It made navigating the park so much easier and less stressful.
Highly recommend for families exploring Yellowstone (or any of their other tours). We’ll keep using Shaka Guide on future trips!

Waimea Canyon
We took this tour today, August 6, taking one road up to the end of the Canyon trail and the north road down. There were no closed roads and minimal road construction. I’m glad we paid no heed to the warning on the app. All in all we’ve enjoyed the Shaka tours of Hawaii.

Have driven Hana multiple times but always easily miss spots we wanted to visit. Shaka guide made sure we knew where every stop was and made finding it really easy. Loved the playlist and little history parts too. Highly recommend!
Worth it
Awesome Road to Hāna guide!! We loved this guided tour & got so much more out of the adventure with using this app, especially since there wasn’t cell service most of the road. We made stops we wouldn’t have otherwise known about & learned cool facts about the towns. Such a great deal! Money well spent.

Really excellent experience with Shaka Guide on Road to Hana. I read reviews of a few other guides but am so glad we chose Shaka. App keeps track of exactly where you are so narration and suggestions are right when you need them. Enjoyable stories and history. My only critique would be that they back off naming names when the record is clear. Say it was the US who stormed the palace— not just “ non Hawaiians” — and the big 5. Name Dole and C&H and the unnamed shipping cos . It’s history. Facts matter.

Audio Parasite
We used the Smoky Mountain National Park episode. Unfortunately, the app runs as an audio parasite so it needs another audio running in the background simultaneously in order for it to work correctly. We finally figured this out after an hour of frustration. We ran a white noise app as background, but, honestly, the app should not need us to do that.

We have two littles and did almost all the tours of the big island while they napped in their car seats. Uncle Shaka is the best and the tour offers travel insights about snacks and bathrooms - not just history! Well done! Will be using yall again for other trips!
