Rogue für Touch

Eins meiner Lieblings-iPhone-Spiele aller Zeiten. Ein fantastischer Port des originalen Rogue. Spielt sich toll und ist ein "forever game", dass einfach nie aufhört Spass zu machen.

Crashes on launch (ios 18.3.2)

Game crashes after clicking new game. Settings, leaderboard, etc all work. I’d like a refund.

Great Rogue variant

Loved to play the original epyx rogue on Atari ST back in the day. This is a great rebirth of the game.

Happy memories.

I can’t believe I’ve been playing this game for almost 10 years and never wrote a review! As someone that loved the Atari ST version this is an easy five star review for me. As I said time again, this is the only game I need on my iPhone. Unlimited replayability and fantastic job from the developer.

Crashes when new game selected

The game now crashes whenever I try to start a new game. This didn’t use to happen so I suspect it’s related to an OS API change. Not sure but it’s a shame because I enjoy the game and now can’t play it.

It's Rogue and it's the best

Great version of Rogue. I grew up playing the Mac version and had been playing it on various 512 Mac simulators in the internet... but they would inevitably crash. This app almost never crashes, and when it does, it just brings you either right back to where you were, or to the beginning of the level.
It's similar to the Mac version, except with all the added Feudal Japan era weapons, hero characters, and super weapons. Only thing I miss is the "far seeing" potion from the Mac game.
I probably play this game everyday. No adds, like ever, always works, loads quick, can play it silently or listening to music, I really can't say enough good things about it. It's the perfect "I need to kill 7 minutes" game, or you can spend the whole day playing it.

Really?

The controls barely work, the profile screen for the character comes up about every third tap. There’s no sound, music or animation for an attack, so you have to read microscopic text (on a phone) to even tell that it’s happening, and half the time you sort of walk through the opponent without even knowing that was a battle. I bailed very quickly on this one. I feel like somebody just reached in my pocket and took $2.99.

iPad users beware

I love rogue likes and just purchase this game. Only to find that it is not optimized for iPads. The resolution is set up for phones and looks terrible, and plays terrible in my opinion on an iPad

Great version of Rouge

This is probably one of my favorite games. Grew up playing the old Mac version of Rogue and RogueTouch is the best modern version I’ve found. No bugs to speak of, no adds, great gameplay, and a support website with all the info you would ever need. Also lots of fun extras like secret characters and new weapons. Has leaderboards but I find they don’t always update. No biggy though. If you liked playing the old Macintosh version of rogue you’re going to love this.

Fantastic

I love this game. Been playing on and off for over a year. Great adaptation!

Profoundly Compelling!

I loved Rogue when it was an ASCII game on a single-color monitor. This update preserves the very best of original Rogue with appropriately cool and simple graphics, more sophistication to items, monsters, environment, and strategy. Best of both worlds! Thank you for creating Rogue Touch! This is exactly the game I wanted for my phone!

Amazing

I am now 17 years old and I used to play this game when I was 6 years old and have been playing consistently since then. It has remained in my heart forever and I love it.

It’s Rogue

I mean, it’s Rogue, my guy. It’s on iPhone. That’s all we need.

Retro and wonderful

I spent far too much time playing Rogue in college and graduate school, and was thrilled to find this iPhone version. Although this version replaces the glowing green ASCII-character “art” with modern graphics, it staunchly maintains the character of the original game. End-of-the-Boom Boomers like me should welcome this blast from the past, as will presumably younger fans of _Ready Player One_. Well worth the $3, and I hope the developer is encouraged to continue his work.

Great game! Forums?

Absolutely an amazing game! I have tried with 2 email addresses to join the forum to chat with other players but have not received any kind of response. Is the forum dead? I hope not. Such an amazing game, I can’t believe I just discovered it in the last couple of months.

I’ve been zapped with the Wand of Enchantment

I’ve recently discovered/re-discovered this game. I originally played hack on Unix platforms about 30 years ago, and this is very similar. A couple of years ago I found poor adaptations for iOS , but I find this adaptation to be excellent. I particularly like it when I get a good game going and am “lost” in it for hours. Well done!

A couple of comments for the developers:

This version is very “dark”. I realize this makes it harder, and there are things like light wands, but it detracts from the enjoyment.

I have not encountered shops yet: are they in this version? Shops were a lot of fun. There was usually a shop in the first few levels.

“Searching” is clunky, or maybe I just haven’t figured it out. Similar to darkness, it detracts. Dead end passages detract, too - what’s the point?

The occasional Scroll of Identify that identifies all items of a certain type, or x number of items, would be nice.

There should be a way to control where you teleport to? Maybe there is, and I haven’t discovered it yet.

There should be a way to go up stairs when you fall through a pit. Otherwise you don’t have the food, hit points, items, etc. you need to survive at a lower level.

Overall, really well done, and thanks!

iPad version is not ready for prime time

I’ve played the iPhone version for years and love it. The iPad version - not so much. There are no shocking, blessed, or any other powerful weapons available even when you get to a level where you “sense powerful magic” there is none to be found. I’ve gone beyond level 80 on the iPhone but can’t get past 22 on the iPad. Tragic really.

Works poorly on an iPad

I had high hopes given the reviews. It did not live up to my memories of a rogue, long ago. All hype, no substance.
