Helpful app, responsive team
Response from developer
Hi Galina, thanks for taking the time, and we're sorry, this update landed with some real bugs. The things you've flagged are all fixed in 4.0.4, which is on its way to you now. On notifications, the read state wasn't holding, so one you'd already tapped would flip back to unread, and 4.0.4 makes it stick. On bookings, when the app couldn't load them it was showing an empty week instead of telling you something had gone wrong, so your week looked blank when nothing had actually been cleared. Now you get a clear message and a retry, and if a refresh drops out your existing bookings stay on screen. On the map zooming out, there are two maps in the app and 4.0.4 improves both. On the live bus-tracking map, that pull-back is bus-follow mode (the bus icon top right) locking the camera onto the bus, and now moving or zooming the map switches it off so it holds where you leave it. And when you're choosing a bus stop, the map used to reset the view as it loaded, now you can pan and zoom to the area you want and it stays put, with a search box and a button to show the stops right where you're looking. We do test the app hard, and on a rebuild this size a few things still got through, which we're never happy about, and we're on them. Once you're on 4.0.4, if anything still isn't right, email us at support@rollcall.com.au and it goes straight to the team. Thanks for sticking with us.
New update makes app much worse
Thanks,
Sam Lloyd.
Response from developer
Hi Sam, thanks for this, and you can always reach us directly too, not just through a review. You've described almost exactly what we've built for 4.0.4, which is on its way to you now. Choosing a stop moves onto a map: you see the stops near your child's home, you can pan and zoom to the area you want, and there's a search box so you can type the stop's name and jump straight to it instead of scrolling the whole list. And the cut-off names are sorted, long stop names now wrap onto two lines so you can read the full name of the stop you're choosing. Once you're on 4.0.4, if a particular stop or route is still awkward to find, email us at support@rollcall.com.au with the detail and it goes straight to the team. Thanks for sticking with us.
Frequently fails - iPhone 14 Pro
The app works one day but not the next. Bookings disappear. Even when working the app fails to update the expected arrival time beyond the schedule even when the bus is running 20 minutes late.
Rebooting phone, and uninstalling and reinstalling the app doesn’t help. It actually makes things worse because the system doesn’t recognise email address on reinstalling, or logging out and back in.
Response from developer
Hi, thank you for taking the time to lay this out, and we're sorry, this isn't the experience we want you to have. The registration taking a few goes, bookings not showing, and your email not being recognised after reinstalling all sound like things we need to look at on your account directly rather than something you can fix from your end. Could you email us at support@rollcall.com.au with the email address on your account? It goes straight to the team and we'll dig into it and get you sorted. On the arrival time: the time shown is the scheduled arrival, the timetable the school or operator has set for the stop, which is why it doesn't move when the bus is running late. The live view is the map itself where you can watch the bus, and a live estimate that updates with delays is something we're working on bringing in. We really appreciate you persisting with us and we want to make this right.
Great Update
Response from developer
Thanks so much for this, it made our day. Editing long term bookings properly and finding your stop on the map were two of the things we most wanted to get right in this update, so it's great to hear they're working well for you. More improvements still on the way.

Hi Mrs Pike, thanks for taking the time to write this up. Fair call that the new layout takes some relearning. Bookings, bus changes, absences and the calendar used to sit across four separate tabs, and we've brought them into one place so your week's travel is the first thing you see when you land. Everything you could do before is still there, now a tap or two further in, and you can switch between your children with one tap at the top of the screen. If part of the flow is still slowing you down day to day, email us at support@rollcall.com.au with what you were trying to do, we read every one and it genuinely shapes what we refine next.
Horrible
What should be a simple app has turned into a Frankenstein. I’ll drive the kids to school from now on.
Apps ratings are inflated as well I see more 1 star than anything else

Hi Lsellarulo, Thanks for the honest feedback, and sorry the map has been frustrating. You're right about the zoom: it's a bug in version 4, our team has reproduced it, and a fix is in testing now with an update due in the coming days. Seeing exactly where the bus is is the whole point of the app, so we want this sorted as much as you do. In the meantime, email support@rollcall.com.au and our team will help directly and let you know the moment the fix is live. On ratings: every review here is genuine parent feedback and we read all of it, including yours. Thanks for bearing with us.

Big Update
Response from developer
Thanks for the kind words. And on the bugs, fair call: a few small ones have surfaced since launch and we're patching them quickly, with an update due in the coming days. If you spot anything, support@rollcall.com.au comes straight to the team.
