aplicativo bom, porém falta muitas opções, transmissão de tela para móbile e variação de língua são duas principais. de resto o app é ok e bem diverso mas falta esses dois recursos que na minha opinião é essencial

mudaria onde edita o perfil o local é mt confuso, tambem achei muito ruim não ter transmissão para mobile e o aplicativo só ser inglês dificulta a vida de algumas pessoas. fora isso a ideia do aplicativo é muito boa e ele funciona bem, gostei bastante!! tem tudo para ser um dc 2.0

BIG potential

First of all this is a great alternative for chatting. Just a few things, i noticed you cant disable streams, which is whatever not big issue to me. On the other hand i cannot hear on mobile. When i join the audio comes thru the phone and not the speaker. Not only that but the audio cuts out after a second and I’m no longer able to hear. Unfortunate, but love this app otherwise.

Has Potential!

I really like the look and mission of this app, and I know it’s still new and likely a small team behind it and I wish you guys well on that mission as I’d love for this to be where my friends and I can stay in the long term.
There are some things here and there where cracks show in it being a newer app, such as errors giving general info but not telling you why it’s not working. I tried sending a photo that’s 17MB big and got a file size error, after much research it’s because it was a RAW file, not the size. And my server that I just started so it’s just me and two apps I’ve added says there are 4 people online… but even if I include the two apps there’s no fourth person. Even the member list only shows 3 members, so 4 is definitely wrong.

Upon downloading this on my PC I found out this was a Chromium app and that immediately feels against the sales pitch I was given about the platform being private and secure. And for that reason alone, my friends are not jumping with me to Root.

Thanks for such a thoughtful review, and for giving Root a proper try. The RAW upload error and incorrect online count are both really useful callouts, especially where the error messaging didn’t explain what was actually wrong. Just to clarify one point, Root’s desktop app is native. We use Chromium for specific parts of the experience, including voice, video and apps, but Root itself isn’t a Chromium app. If you’re happy to, please send the RAW upload and member count examples to Support so we can dig into those properly. Better than Discord

Switched over from Discord after their lack of data integrity and their “nickel and diming” nature for some as simple as changing the font of your name. Root has been great and it also has a bright future. Hoping it continues

root was almost great. it was almost good enough to replace discord. it was comforting to know my privacy would be safer here and not handed over to any AI or any other person/place that may invade my privacy. however. i have been using the app for months now and nothing has improved at all. i still cant send SHORT photos/videos/files to my friends. hardly anybody is here. there’s no public servers or bots to customize your server with. this app may be fine for you if you lack personality or just looking for a simple, basic messaging app. but to me it’s been a complete waste of my time and i almost considered going back to discord if it weren’t for them forcing AI and personal identifiers against us. what a massive letdown.

Sometimes messages don’t send. Sometimes it’s images. Sometimes it won’t even let you know when you e been messaged; either way, Root is a grab bag and I hope it improves….

Love it but

I heavily enjoy the app since everything is quite simple and not to bad to navigate but I do wish special characters could be used in channel names like these ꧁ I think it adds nice decor, also the banner for accounts often squish the image I'm using or just look off. Everything else is great though ^_^

Just copy discord

Literally do what discord does, how hard is that? and just keep the good audio quality. I swear people constantly try to remake the wheel when it already works. Just figure out how to make it better without changing the fundamentals. Like why can’t I stop a livestream in the app?? Why do I have to mute the person but the stream keeps going. How hard is it to simply put a x at the top of the video so I don’t have streams constantly playing in the background

So much potential

I used the app today since DC was down and my group created a server on here as backup. When I first arrived, it seemed really nice. But shortly after I noticed that I wasn’t receiving any chat notifications from the channels. I did some searching online and found that this is not a feature in Root. I think this is a major flaw and the developers of the app should integrate these notifications with an option to turn off or mute.

Kicked out of my account

I got logged out of my account, and now I can’t get back in. I tried to reset my password, and I’m not getting the email for the stupid verification code. I checked my spam folder, and nothing is there. It also takes like 5 minutes to load the security verification. Please fix this!
