Decent game ruined by AI

I see the vision and my bf and I really like morkborg but the AI generated “art” really ruins this game :(
I read some of the other reviews and the developers replies, and I just want to encourage you to keep developing this game, but without the generated AI “art”.
I admire you for putting your own money into this project, and it clearly is one of your passions. I’d love to give this another review if/when they add real art :D

Ai slop

Mork Börg the role playing game is a favorite game of mine, horrible to see it be reduced to a barebones mobile game with AI art. A big part of what got me into it originally was the amazing art, with its unique gritty and gross style. I hope this is a ripoff made by an unaffiliated company, otherwise it’d be sad to see the brand reduced to this.

Response from developer

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. I completely understand your perspective — the original Mörk Borg has an incredible and unique art style that’s hard to replicate. I just want to clarify that Rotspire is an independent hobby project I’ve been working on in my free time as a solo developer. I’m not affiliated with the official creators of Mörk Borg in any way. Since I’m a programmer and not an artist, I used AI-assisted tools to help generate some of the visuals so I could bring the project to life at all. My goal wasn’t to diminish the original game or its style, but to create something inspired by it for fun and to learn more about game development. I really appreciate your feedback and I’ll keep it in mind as I continue improving the game! – Tomáš

i wanna give 5 but

my one gripe is the interactions have to be reloaded between every action, but the refresh does not work so you have to click out everytime and this makes dungeons terrible as they really dont like to load. please fix

Slow but good

I am enjoying the game so far, however I have been trying to figure out what the stat “presence” means. As well as other stats. I’m pretty sure I know the others but I like to know what they mean in each game. As well as type of characters. Why the difference in stat points. Some are 3 total others are 5 total starting points.

Response from developer

Glad to hear that you like Rotspire, and thank you for the thoughtful comments. Presence comes into play with social or mental confrontations — persuasion, intimidation, or standing against fear. In those situations, the game rolls a d20 and applies your Presence modifier. Stat point difference on start is intentional – classes are more specialized and others balanced out with more evenly divided stats. Tomáš K.

Art Direction could be improved

I noticed pretty quickly, probably like most, that the art is clearly AI generated. Now I understand that the developers or developer may not be an artist and AI is an interesting tool that takes only seconds and costs nothing. However as a fan of Mörk Borg I can confidently say that there are plenty of artists that understand that style and idea that would love to work on it. I say this as an artist too. Please consider reaching out to some artists to have some paintings made. I know you want to make money too, but take pride in your work and the creative people it takes to help it come into fruition. Plus it’s honestly really cringy to see a poorly made ai painting of a world that was literally built by real people. Oh and pro tip, don’t ask ai to make pixel art, that should be a no brainer, cmon man.

Response from developer

Hey, I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts — especially as both a fan of Mörk Borg and an artist. I totally get where you’re coming from. Just to clarify one thing: AI "art" doesn’t actually cost nothing — between server hosting, processing, and the tools involved, it’s far from free. Rotspire itself is a completely free game and hasn’t made a cent so far. I’m covering everything out of my own pocket, just because I love building it as a side project. That said, I absolutely agree there’s real value in human creativity. I’m definitely open to working with artists who share that vision — if you’re interested, feel free to reach out to me directly at krcaltomas99@gmail.com. Would love to hear your ideas. Thanks again for the honest feedback :) Tomáš K.
