I’ve been using RTAB-Map for a few years now, and it’s easily one of the most capable 3D LiDAR scanning apps on the App Store. There’s a bit of a learning curve, but that’s because it’s a genuinely advanced, flexible tool—not a watered-down “one-button” scanner. After trying many competing apps, this is the one I keep coming back to: the results are excellent, the feature set is deep, and it’s truly free all the way through. Huge thanks to the developers for the hard work and for making something this powerful accessible to everyone.

If you’re looking for a 3d scanner app, stop here! You’ve found it. I would give this 6 stars if I could. RTAB-Map is fabulous. It does the job and gets out of the way. No ads, no accounts, no spyware. You open it and it just works. Simple data formats, easy sharing. What a refreshingly straightforward tool—thank you Mathieu!

Nice open source app with good customisation options
Was very eager to get a LiDAR Scanner app but given its capability to map the real world accurately I didn’t want to hand those files off to some random company with a profit motive to use my data.
This app is good - you can customise so much about the scans, the optimisation, the filters the viewing perspectives etc. Does everything I want it to.
I do wish it utilised the full 120Hz of the screen but that is not a must have anyways.

Point cloud export?
Exactly what I’ve been looking for…almost. I’m a land surveyor and have been waiting for a self correcting scan app. If able, please provide colorized point cloud export option. This app could prove extremely helpful with that option.

I’ve tried them all, this is the BOSS
There is no better 3D scanning app for the real 3D scan enthusiast. I have tried all 20 or so of them, with full feature unlocks. The only downside is that big scans need lots of RAM, so go ahead and get yourself a tablet with at least 16GB of RAM. otherwise, it will be unstable and keep closing on you without saving. I’ve had a lot of great scans get lost. But the scans that didn’t get erased are insane. Loop closure is so crazy.
