Faulty and glitchy

Guys, this his app was decent when I first downloaded it but it’s glitchy and almost useless now. Please fix it.

Okay but bare bones.

This app is relatively easy to use once setup but two things make it a pain to use.

1 is it constantly logs you out of the service. About 50% of the time when I go to use it to activate or deactivate the alarm. I have to log back in again.

2 It does not support Face Id. This makes the above issue even more of a pain point.

ugh.

Exactly what I need

I think the interface is great and is very easy to use. Very easy to sync and manage each device. I also have the doorbell camera attached to it. Very satisfied

Great app!

The Scout app is user-friendly and well-designed! Huge fan!

Nothing for Apple Watch

I had this app on my Apple Watch two days ago. Now it has spontaneously disappeared. Still have it on my iPhone. Where did it go and how do I get it to appear on watch again?

App and security system 👍

Both the app and the hardware have been working flawlessly for me. Like this much better than previous systems I have owned. Easy app to use and solid notifications.

Easy setup and installation

Super easy to install and this app works great. I like knowing if I armed the system by just checking the app. The modes are great too for customizing alert notifications.

Random logouts make it not worth getting

It’s infuriating trying to disarm your system only to find the app randomly logged you out. Makes me reconsider getting this system altogether.

Stop making it pretty

and fix the random logouts. always seems to be logged out right when i need it in a hurry.

Terrible product

Not worth the money. Can get better service from other providers. The app isn’t great-constantly signed you out. Look elsewhere for real security.

What happened to integration?

Where did the option to control nest cams go with the last update? It was nice being able to use one app instead of two. They show connected through the nest app, but not this one - nor can you add them back. Thinking of ditching the system for the new Ring system that’s out - which is also half the price monthly.

Buggy Authentication

The app has suffered from random logouts for 2+ years, and now its crashing whenever I try to log in. 😡

Great DIY Security

All the components work well and the app is easy to use. I like being able to arm/disarm and see activity while I am away. Some features I would like to see added is the ability to see when motion is detected in the activity log even when the system is not armed. I would also like to keep seeing activity be recorded while an alarm is going off so I know if there is really a problem. It would also be a good idea to have a panic button in the app to be able to set the alarm off manually if you needed to.

Great smart home alarm

This is a good alarm choice for a smart home - and one that doesn’t break the bank. We have our Scout integrated with Alexa and IFTT. This is ultra convenient for voice arming and disarming, as well as auto arming on a schedule.

The app is pretty good and gives the notifications I need. And allows good control.

I see this alarm as a deterrent to a burglar. And a warning to me as owner. Not a full-proof one. Though I think few are full-proof.

Sometimes there is a delay on sensors responding-due mostly to the location of the hub-so plan ahead on that. And I’ve also had sensor need to be reset to work at all. ...So on these points is where it gets 4 stars instead of 5. Ideally it would be perfectly reliable. But it’s pretty darn good. And if you are willing to monitor it a little the little things are workable.

I didn’t find a better solution for what I was willing to spend and for the convenience this has.

I’d recommend this system for a fairly low risk middle income neighborhood like mine, where I’m a pro-active owner.

Great app

It needs Siri Shorcuts integration...

App syncing to sensors needs work

The Scout system is solid when everything is online and synced to the app. The syncing fails every so often causing everything to need to be reset. The mobile app performance could be more stable. Overall, the alarm works well and is a good mobile options- just be ready to work through the kinks.

Warning! Does not work!

This product does not work!!

If you are looking for a complete review of Scout, let me tell you my story. As you will read, I gave them every opportunity to help me setup their system, but 4 years later and hours, weeks, months of frustration, I have given up.

I purchased Scout as part of the initial offering before they had a product back in 2014. I was very disappointed after getting it all setup. I had about 4 motion sensors and 12 door/window sensors. All in, I spent more than $500 for a system that did not work. The major issues I noted:

Batteries would continually die within 2-3 months, so chasing down which sensors were working or not, was challenging and time consuming. They’ve since improved the detection of batteries dying, but they still die within a couple of months. A year later, at the end of 2015, they recognize they have an issue and offer the zigbee solution, but it takes them 2 years to get this into beta!

The Alarm itself was not loud. Definitely not as loud as they advertised. The solution apparently is a new faceplate on the door panel. I offered to test it after it was built, but was never sent anything. When I moved to the Zigbee platform a couple of months ago, I was then told that this platform doesn’t support the new faceplate.

In addition to these two major flaws I had numerous issues with the setup and keeping sensors online. As a result, I didn’t use the system between 2016-2018 while I waited for the Zigbee solution. After spending a couple of months trying to get it working with the Scout, I came to the conclusion that this was never going to work. I asked for a refund from Scout, but was denied with the reasoning that my purchase date was beyond the published warranty. A very disappointing conclusion to my relationship with Scout. I would have expected that they would stand behind their product, but that is not the case! They are obviously not a reputable company.

I have now purchased the Abode alarm system. I’ve now had it working for about a month. The setup was easy. I’ve never had any issue with sensors going offline. The battery life for the sensors is several years I am told. Everything works perfect!

In closing, I would like to thank the Scout support staff. They were very responsive, but unfortunately the technology let us both down. I would not recommend this product.

Killing my battery

App is using 17% of my battery!

The app works great, but not if my phone is dead.
Please fix this!

I like it.

This system works pretty well, customer support is responsive if you need help and it is easy to install.
I can easily set the alarm on the way out, or if I space out I can can do it from my phone. This is a plus.
And, you see a updated record of your door opening and closing, alarms set and canceled. Pretty handy if you have a dog walker or someone else coming by.
The new system is plenty loud for me, I have it set in the lowest “chirp”.
All in all, it does what I was looking for without breaking the bank.

Meh on the app

Product is fine, but whenever an update comes out the quick buttons on the spotlight stop working. I have to delete and re-install the app.
